My Dad, Stephen Scargill was an avid Barnsley fan, he used to post on here and on barnsleyfc.net when it was up and running. At one point he was writing a daily diary telling everyone about his daily struggle with Cancer. Sadly he passed away in the early hours of this morning (September 24th). I know he really appreciated the support his fellow reds supportes gave him. Thanks for all you did to help keep him going. There was on girl, sadly I cannot remember her name who sent him some crystals to help comfort him while he was in hospital. I'd really like to hear from you or your parents if you're around, you have no idea how much those crystals meant to him. Thanks again for all your support.
Condolences to you, mate Chin up. At least now he can look down on the reds and watch our great team win back the price we've so badly lacked over the past few years
Deeply saddened and shocked to hear that. The thoughts of us all are with you and your family. That has put a huge knot in my stomach! I'll raise a glass of my best malt to his memory.
Strange this.......but just heard my old gaffer from Dearne Valley pit has died......Frank Parkinson Used to watch TARN Died this afternoon at 5 oclock I think he died of cancer The guys name is Frank Parkinson originally from Broomhill but lived at Wombwell Hard man, strong willed, strict gaffer............but always fair Great guy God bless thi Frank
RE: Condolences to you, mate I remember him being in the OP the first time I met you and the Big Lils. I didn't get to speak to him as I was at the bar and by the time I got back he'd moved somewhere else.
Deepest Sympathy Tim, I never met your Dad but used to read his diary whenever he posted. Was reading it at the time when my grandfather was dying of leukiemia - his diary really helped me a lot. Again, so sorry to hear that he has gone.
Surely the BBS, as a collective group could do something in memory of Steve? He was a top guy, someone who will never be forgotten.
I'm sorry to hear that. I never got a chance to meet your dad, but I remember his posts here and on barnsleyfc.net very well. Despite of his illness he always seemed to be so brave and positive and a proper nice guy. I'm sorry to hear that he's gone now. Rest in peace Stephen.
I agree! How about a Steve S presentation to the player who tops the BBS MOTM polls at the end of the season? Or for the best BFC goal of the season?
Condolences to you and your family At this difficult time. Your dad was a much respected poster; his Dear Diary writings, and his general postings often brought people back down to earth when discussions could get a bit heated. He had a level and calming head. Once again, my condolences.
My sincere condolences to you and your Family.... I didn't know 'steve' personally but i read his Diary's he wrote on the board with great interest. He sounded a very brave man..Once again ..sorry..
