I didn`t know your dad, but from what I have read on here he is a very well respected bloke who was very brave and had a positive outlook despite his illness. My condolences to you and your family. RIP Stephen.
Respect Its not how long you're at the crease ,its what you do whilst you're there that counts. From what I read in Steve S's posts he had a good innings
RE: Respect RIP a genuine member of the Human Race - thoughts to his wife and son and the smile he said had on his face when we won at cardiff will watch over us
Sad news. Your dad's diary was an inspiration to us all mate, it put my problems into perspective and made me realise how little I have to worry about. When my dad passed away 2 years ago - he was almost 84, I had his ashes spread on the edge of the pitch in front of the Ponty end and we had a brick placed on the Oakwell Wall of Fame. He wasn't a religious man and Barnsley FC was a major part of his life, so it seemed appropriate. Whenever I go to see the Reds I always go and touch his brick, it certainly gives me some comfort. All the best.
RIP Grief never ends, But it changes. It’s a passage, Not a place to stay. The sense of loss Must give way, If we’re to value The life that was lived. Grief is not a sign of weakness, Nor a lack of faith, It is the price of friendship....
having been overwhelmed for the past 2 days ive only just felt like saying a few words, i never met steve but a man filled with warmth , humility and sincerity who will be remembered by all on the bbs. i lost my own father , born in 1952 too , just over 2 years ago so i know how you feel , keep strong , peace and love.
I'm saddened to learn of this I have a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat as I write this. I never met Steve, but used to read his dear diary entries without fail and I was always struck with how positive and strong he was. His fortitude and grit should act as a template for anyone wanting to overcome obstacles no matter how minor or (unfortunately in this case) major. My thoughts are with you.
RIP Steve S Thoughts are with you all, very sorry ot hear this news...very saddening. Seems like we all (on the bbs) had some sort of closeness with Steve throughout his battle. Paolo
