I've got a feeling we're going to get to July and the only things on the club's Twitter feed will be Centenary Draws and the announcement of a friendly against Frickley Athletic.
Your dead right. Id hate to watch us set up by a manager that actually wants to win games by any means neccesary, id much rather watch what weve been used to in the last 18 months of us rolling over and having our tummies tickled by a more streetwise ruthless opponent. I really dont understand the notion that the manager must play champagne football or else. when was the last time that happened. I want us to win...end of..by any means..at all costs..3 points is all that matters
We do like painting things as completely black or completely white on here. Is it not possible to play decent passing football (not of Brazilian ilk), be pretty organised at the back, show attacking intent at set pieces and have some level of being streetwise too? To be streetwise doesn't mean being as vile cheats as Fulham, and being competent at kicking a bag of wind closer to the grass than the clouds doesn't mean we're Brazil of the 70s and early 80s or god forbid as fluid as the Premiership promotion.
Mick Mccarthy for me because he has the experience to build a side capable of winning matches. Look at Cardiff City, not a pretty side but now in premiership. However after all that, I can't see Mick coming to Oakwell. We shall see....
Its only my opinion, but the satisfaction I get is when im walking up the hill at 5pm is if weve won, i dont take any solace when weve just been beaten by the way we played or how many chances we missed. Just that we scored more than our opponent and we got 3 points. Infact, bugger it, id love to listen to away fans walking up with me moaning that they were robbed by a team that kicked them off park. Because ive got sick of moaning about the exact same thing for years. Again only my opinion. But next season it defo win at all costs for me
I hope who appoints the new manager uses abit more nous this time than jose Morais. Foreign coach who had more clubs than Arnold palmer, no experience in championship and in relegation battle... No pressure then. I feel if we had the foresight to have Gary Monk we would have survived. One look at Jose's CV told the story. No longer then 18 months at any club and much less in some cases... Why I wonder?
I hope I speak from a vast majority ......I would rather see the reds winning in a lower league week in week out ,I don't care if we play Chelsea or chesterfield as long as we put the effort in. and win more than we loose .we aren't going to be a Man U any time soon that's a given but if we do well and play well the crowds will come back we have the ability we just need to clear some fringe players and lets face it we have lots to choose from and bring in a few proven ones to tweak the team
Fulham? Really?? The team generally accepted as the best footballing side in the Championship last season? That Fulham??
Each to their own, I take no satisfaction from a dull thuggish cheating 3 points. Yes, there is a good feeling from winning.... but there is an even better feeling.... absolutely smashing a team who is cheating and playacting and despite that, you've beaten them by a cricket score because youre just so much better.
Wonderful footballing side. amazing control of a football, shifts in speed and attacking pace. Absolute quality. At the same time the most odious blatant cheats in the division last year, and for the past few years. Admire and would love to mirror their attacking flair in any Barnsley side. The negative time wasting, diving, playacting cheating.... i'd be ashamed to see my team do that to the extent they do.
No. Traditionally. Barnsley fans want to see more than just 3 points. They want to see energetic good football - plus the 3 points. They don’t want to see tippy tappy Wenger style football - they want to see barnstorming football. How many times have you come out of the WELL and heard ‘well that were rubbish but at least we got 3 points’. And - it’s better for the club and the town as a whole for Barnsley to be struggling sixth from the bottom of the Premiership than 10 points clear at the top of the 3rd tier of English football.
