I see that Reading have a similar run in with a lot of the bottom sides to play. Our game at home to them could be the crucial one but no doubt there’ll be plenty of twists and turns to come x
Who put up the graphic a couple of weeks ago showing our results against team vs where they were in the league? it was quite startling, how much we'd beaten the sides below us vs draw/losses against those above. If the trend continues, it bodes well.
Hopefully reading play that tippy tappy b.ollocks like they have been doing in recent seasons when we play them. Seems to suit our pressing style i.e Chelsea/Brentford games
Here's the updated graphic Source: https://www.soccerstats.com/team.asp?league=england2&stats=9-barnsley
I love that. What I love most about it is how few of those sides above us we have to play. I also like that one of those wins against the teams above us and the only draw have come in the last 7 games which suggests we're getting better.
Yeah Brentford probably thought they were going to the premier league when they saw they were playing us last season. One game at a time my Barnsley brothers.
Makes a massive change to be beating the teams we feel we should be beating. As great as it is to beat the bigger teams in the league I would happily beat 9th-24th and lose to 1-8. Makes for a far more successful team than the other way round lol
Worth pointing out how good we've been at the back. In the last 5 games as we've only conceded 1 goal.
And Watford to be fair. I was listening to a podcast yesterday, and they went through the Watford results for the last 8 or 10 games or so. All of their goals have been lucky deflections, really bad defensive errors (keeper being caught in possession is one example) or penalties. You'd like to think that type of luck will run out eventually.
Exactly- we are shutting teams out not only at scoring, but clear chances that bodes really really well
Against the 7 teams above us Played 11 Won 2 Drawn 1 Lost 8 For 5 | Against 18 Against the 16 teams below us Played 20 Won 12 Drawn 5 Lost 3 For 31 | Against 17
