The hypothetical scenario is not likely to occur but in an instance such as this, surely Forest wouldn't sell him until after the play offs?

Then by definition, as he has signed for a NEW team, he can't play for his OLD team. You can't be contracted to two teams at once.

I'm not angry! Just frustrated that a simple thing cannot be understood by others.

It hasn't been made simple though.

There are two options as I see it. 1. A player signs from club 1 to club 2 and the transfer goes through immediately meaning he cannot play for any club. Or 2. The transfer goes through when the season ends.

    I assume it's 1

    From the article:

"although any player registered before the completion of the 2019/20 season will not be eligible to play for their new Club until season 2020/21 commences. This is applicable to Clubs involved in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs."

So clubs can sign players, and they are doing so only for the start of next season 20/21. Those players then can't play in the playoffs, so for the teams in the playoffs - the squads that they finish the regular season with, is the squad that they utilise for the playoffs. Why some club in the playoffs would sell a key player to another team in the playoffs is beyond me, but all they would be doing is reducing their squad for the playoffs (The selling club may have got a really good offer they couldn't refuse or they wanted shut of that player)

Not necessarily many players have signed in January but not moved until the Summer under certain circumstances, yet they still continue to play for the old team.
You’ve assumed that because they have agreed terms the contract starts immediately, but have nothing to support that. It may be correct but it also may not.

Perhaps if you’re initial reply had been, I don’t think so because.... instead of trying to imply people are being thick?

The quote you gave doesn't say that the transfer goes straight through or that he can't pay for his current club

I thought someone would bring something like that up, but that's isn't what we're talking about here is it? It's special circumstances that exist because of the delayed season, and players registrations from July 26th to whenever the 20/21 season starts.

Now if I was being facetiious I would point out i used the word imply not said.

    However - your responses -
Did you read the article? Even the OP said opens a week on Monday,
What is so hard to understand about this?
I'm not angry! Just frustrated that a simple thing cannot be understood by others.

All of these responses have an element of trying to make a clever remark.

You’ve offered nothing to prove you’re point, but how you have read it, despite the fact at least 3 people on here have envisaged hypothetical scenarios.

Exactly, special circumstances, hence the original question because the statement does not make clear about the question.
It was you who said a player can’t be contracted to 2 teams but clearly they can, it happens every season.

Actually they can't be contracted to two teams. You are talking here about a pre agreement for a player to sign at a date in the future

I don't think I need to offer anything, it's there in black and white in the article.

If a player is registered before the end of the season, they can't play for the new club including the playoffs until the 20/21 season. They can't be registered with two teams at once, so can't play for anyone else.

If the registration goes through later, then they can play for their current club.

Nothing else can be implied or hypothesized about this. I don't need to offer anything - it is written in black and white

Again you fail to appreciate a player can sign a contract that doesn’t have to start immediately. You are assuming that is a fact.
I’m presuming you are aware that it is not uncommon for a player to be registered to a club in the Summer but don’t actually start there until a later date. Eg Player signs contract in July and that contract is registered and ratified but doesn’t come into play until after the Summer.

But no you are right cos you said so, cos you have interpreted the text in that manner.

Again equally you could have put that in you’re original response as your thought process instead of your attempts at trying to be clever with comments.

I'm not trying to argue with you, but you seem intent on getting in a spin on this.

All your scenarios when players are signed/signing on a future date are covered in the statement. If a player is registered before the season ends, they can't play again this season including the playoffs.

Hence, by definition, if a player is signed/signing/registering at a future date i.e. after the season ends(all your scenarios here) then the player can continue playing
