I could quite easily see Sunderland completely tanking if they had a couple of losses. Their fans are caustic and deluded, the negativity at the minute from being in with a shout of automatic is ridiculous. I'd love them to get to the playoff final and lose. Horrible club, horrible set of fans.
In terms of footballing ability Sunderland had 30 minutes against us at their place which no other team has produced. Admittedly we gave it a go but it's hard to tell how much was down to them being 3 up. From then their season has really surprised me. I thought it would be us and them for the automatic places. It almost seems that they are set up not to lose rather than win hence the draws. Big decision now for Ross is to try to play to win. Lots of games left but the type of performance against Blackpool tonight should give an indication of their intent.
I think we are underestimating Sunderland. They are a talented team being asked to play in a dour fashion - shades of Mark McGee/Wolves (and I hope it works out in the same fashion).
I watched the extended highlights of their game against Oxford and they were very very poor. Created very little and seemed highly reliant on corners (which they scored from). If Sunderland play like that for the rest of the season, they'll finish nowhere near second. One defeat, and I can see the wheels coming off completely, especially at the asylum of light.
Yes, but for their dodgy pen, we'd still have got a point as we wouldn't have been chasing the game late on
After watching that I worry about Doncaster more than them. The pressure they'll be under Friday now is huge
Get in there! Hell of a long way to go but any points they drop can only be good news for us. Up the 'Pool!
Will Grigg isn't on fire. He had a good patch and had a song sang about him that went viral, but he's not as good as he's made out to be. Jack Dross is struggling not managing in the Mickey Mouse league no more. We dodged a bullet when he turned us down. Sunderland struggle to score more than one. They are so negative and defensive minded. Hope now Accrington can carry on the good work of Blackpool on Friday night.
