I adopted the 49ers in the mid/late eighties when Channel 4 started showing the NFL, though given how tremendous a side they were at the time, it wasn't a difficult choice.

Joe Montana remains one of my favourite sportsmen of all time, to the extent that when he eventually left SF and ended up at the Kansas City Chiefs, the Chiefs became my second team until he retired! If you consider that the 49ers team he led also had the likes of Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott, Roger Craig, and Dwight Clark, I'd say it'd have a decent shout at being the best of all time.

Looking forward to tonight. Might give half time a miss mind if it's Beyonce/Destiny's Child - that'll definitely be the time to put the kettle on......
