I've had a message from a lad I know, he doesn't post on here but reads the board regular. He messaged Dan Jarvis the other day and got a reply in reference to the council selling their share of the ground to the current owners. Dan has said he's more than happy to meet with the supporters trust and bring along Steve Houghton. Also this topic is a regular one that Dan is in discussions with the council regarding, they have also spoken to the club's management regarding it but haven't heard anything for 6 or more months now from them. Whether anyone wants to set up a meeting I'm not sure? Would it be worthwhile? Is it a kneejerk or would it help fans in terms of actually hearing the council's side? Just thought I'd feed it back as the lad doesn't post on here to mention it.
Sure the Supporters Trust would be happy to be involved if necessary, but it would need to be established if the owners were indeed interested in buying the council’s share. If so, what benefit would it bring the fans for them to own the ground outright?
I’d rather the council held on to their share of the ground ownership. It’s insurance against untrustworthy club owners.....like the present ones.
Last thing we need is these owners owning our share of the ground. It will be the death of this club I fear.
I agree, on what backing they've gave the club so far I wouldn't be please if they owned the ground fully. It's obviously the last part of the controlling stake before they can more or less do as they please.
I wanted them to buy it off the council, mainly it’s holding up redevelopment of the West Stand but now these charlatans have shown their true colours, perhaps the council are protecting the clubs future?
Dialogue would be great but don`t understand Dan Jarvis` involvement - he has nothing to do with Barnsley Council - he`s an MP and Mayor of South Yorkshire
Do you think for one minute that this lot would spend a penny on redeveloping the west stand or any other part of the ground for that mattet? They're all about take take take, they'll never put anything in
I assumed that's why he'd offered to take Steve Houghton along, from what got said to me it's a regular topic that includes Dan Jarvis?
Well they sort of made noises about it, I believe Conmanway said there would be a new West stand within 3 years recently! And I’m guessing a couple of months back before they shut up shop.
From what I'm told the owners will not be looking at buying the ground for quite a long time. It's not something I would worry about at the moment.
Probably wanted it for free. Seriously though, if they don't want the ground, what on earth are they here for? Why on earth do they want Partick? Is their plan to distress the supporters so much that they create militancy in an aim to drive higher the cost of buying them out as reluctant sellers? Makes no sense whatsoever
From what I was told they will not buy the stadium until the club generates enough money to do so without affecting the player budget. So basically, the stadium will only be bought when we finally drop on a pair of absolute gems and they're on a 4 year deal meaning they sell for big ££££. Seriously though I wouldn't expect them to buy the ground anytime soon. It'll get purchased if we got in the premier league or were fighting at the top of the championship. They dont want to pay for the ground because it eats up their profit, they know it's not going anywhere so I imagine they see it as pissing money up the wall. Now, if we were selling out every week then they'd probably buy it so they could develop it.
So at the opening presser... when they were very clear to say they had a 6 month option to acquire the ground..... that was just more BS. I think we need to come up with a different term to "investors"... as investors actually inject some form of capital into a structure to get it going. These people, despite buying a distressed but profitable asset, paying for it over a very long period too, seem to conclude that investing is purely acquiring an 80% share, and even then, its arguable whether they will aim to pay themselves for their investment, along similar lines to what they did at Nice.
