To be honest , I know they always bring a good following , but the way they are bitching about the prices on Owlstalk , I do not think they will be that bothered about their allocation as it will give them the " I"m not paying that price " excuse for not coming , which is well rich considering how they have been ripping us off for years , let them have a beam back if they are that bothered

Because John Dennis had a crystal ball and could see that in eighteen years time SYP would start being a pain. It's had 6,000 in it plenty of times.

How much of Bramhall Lane and Hillsborough are left empty when the Sheffield matches are played?

6,893 seats lost at Hillsborough and 1,582 seats lost at Bramall Lane.

It's a mixed bag that a few of them are talking sense. I think the whole we charge them what they charge us thing is silly. As it only punishes the football fans of both clubs not those setting the price Hillsborough.

The idea is to incentivise the other club not to rip-off our fans in the first place, if that doesn't work, well their fans know who they can complain to - their own club.

Last season was the first time they had sold out in their last few visits, in the O'Grady defeat and the Pederson draw they sent tickets back.

To be fair to our club which the Wendies never seem to notice that our top price adult price is roughly the same as theirs but our concessions are considerably cheaper , they can still bring a juvenile u12 for £5 & u17 for a tenner ,also our senior citizen tickets are normally cheaper & if you consider these groups will probably make up half their following , we still have to fork out more when we visit them, than they do visiting us.

I seem to remember that the allocation has been affected in the past by SWFC fans insisting on standing,

Their fans are mugs who will sell the allocation no matter how much whining they do. If they're that bothered they shouldn't come, simple.

He said stadiums are half empty. Sunderland, cardiff, middlesbrough and on and on. Even man city struggle to sell out despite their current situation. Preston generally have a half empty stadium too and they are doing well.

In the top two divisions stadiums aren't half empty. Not 1 under 90% full in the Prem, disregarding Spurs.

In the Championship, on average grounds are over 70% full.

    Yes you're quite correct.
Burton's ground is nearly always filled to it's 6'500 capacity.

What a farce that is. Especially that decision not to sell seats on the aisles. Do they think people aren't gunna sit there if they want anyway?

There's lies, damned lies and statistics.
English modern day football attendances are a far cry from what they used to be. Until the mid-late 70s large attendances were generally the order of the day. Most football clubs highest attendances are to be found in the late 40s, 50s and 60s. The grounds then, with little seating and little regulation could hold so much more than today's all seater stadia ( and for those with massively reduced capacity with standing as a consequence of health and safety)
    Rochdale highest attendance 1949-50: 24,231 (current capacity 10, 000)
    Portsmouth highest attendance 1949: 51, 385 (current capacity 21, 100.
Blackpool highest attendance 1955: 38,098 (current capacity 17,338)
Could go on for the majority of league clubs.
Over 50, 000 at Burnden Park for the league cup semi final versus Everton1978/9: how many would that fixture pull in now? No more than the capacity that is now only around 25, 000 in their plastic all seater stadia.
So it's much easier to have a fuller stadium % wise when the stadiums have much more reduced capacity than they used to have.
The working man then paid a fraction of what the modern man does now to watch a game of football and the crowds were significantly bigger.
I'll just add this to finish.
West Brom capacity is curently 26, 850. I guess they are currently getting 90% of this.
Their highest crowd however is a whopping 64, 815 in 1937.
Like i say, there's lies, damned lies and statistics.
So attendances are not, not at all at an 'all time high".

    Wow!
Man City's largest ever crowd is a mighty 84, 569..
So Bournemouth, with an almost 100% crowd per capacity of 11,360 :p take almost 7 and a half games to reach the attendance figure of city's crowd alone.
    Statistics eh?.

The original statement said stadiums were half empty though, which they aren't.

For clarity Barnsley's record attendance was 40,255 v Stoke in 1936, that same year the record books show our average attendance was 9,861. So it's difficult to pick out the odd game for comparison. So there's highest attendances which you have stated and averages. Rochdale average 8,372 that same year you have stated a one off crowd.
