Go at them, all out. Hopefully bag a couple. Make them nervous about the counter attack. Don't expose our sometimes fragile defence. With a two-goal lead at their place, adopt the exact same tactics. Make them nervous in front of their own supporters. Nick one at some point. Draw 1-1. Win 3-1 on aggregate. Simples! No cageyness - or we'll fail.
They piss around with it at the back. Like most teams in this league (and the league above) , they don’t have the players to play that game. So they need to be pressed, a lot, at the back.
Wasn't that what we did against them last time we played them at Oakwell? We then threw away a two goal lead due to running out of steam and not being able to defend. I hope we can do it, I really do. I'm just not sure that whatever tactic we use we're going to be able to stop them from scoring. Probably twice if I'm honest.
In the league game at Oakwell they pissed around with it at the back for the first 50 odd minutes and we got the better of them. They then went direct and in behind us and absolutely murdered us. Ian Evatt was fuming with their first half showing because he said they'd worked on playing more direct but his players hadn't followed the instructions. Be interesting to see how they set up Friday night but I don't think they will fanny about at the back unless they've got a 2 or 3 goal lead.
Yep you’re right. If they go direct I would play deep and go for the draw. Would be delighted with a bore draw tbh
get in their area and run at defenders, draw pen. shoot on sight when there is sight of the net. aim low into either corner.
Our players have poor fitness levels though. They can't last long enough before they look like they are running through treacle. We would be OK in the first half and then second half be in trouble.
Is that actually true? McAtee can, he's just taken off because it's the easy option every week. He rarely looks knackered. We all know Cadden has lasted 90 minutes ever since he joined us. Williams easily can. Kane can and has many times. Connell doesn't look unfit to me, it's the tactics. He doesn't do much running anyway like all class players. Phillips definitely can. If okeeffe can't be may as well give up because energy is all he's got really, same with cotter. Earl, MDG, Mccart? Seen nothing to suggest they get tired. Jalo and Marsh looks like they could run all night. Russell again doesn't run much to get tired. Cole is the only one who looks knackered quickly but he looks like that after a minute
They'll overload our left side that's where they'll look to expose Cadden and deliver balls in from those areas, did it in both games this season and scored 2 of their 3 goals from attacks down that side. We need to make the pitch wide and stop the service from those areas, make them come into the middle areas and that's where we need to press and win everything
As long as they put a shift in, i'll be happy with that, we've got the Players an the Squad to beat anybody in this league on the day, keep the faith, C,O,Y,R.
Particularly ours that have scored so many late goals and won more games having gone behind than any other club.
