Of course they can sell it. It might mean some of Patrick's wishes around the future operation are puhed aside, rightly or wrongly, but they would be able to find another buyer
No. Just heard from someone very close to club it's all legal / paperwork stuff but that it will be done
Aye but it shouldn't take that long though because the potential investors should have given us £50 million to spend the exact same day that they heard the name Barnsley FC and we should be winning Europe about now because after all its been 3 months. In all seriousness, I made this same point back in August, 3 days after news of the takeover came out and people were hoping we'd be securing funds before the August transfer window closed. I said at the time that the earliest any sort of increment in transfer budget would be felt would be by the following summer. Its the nature of football fans to be impatient. Everyone just needs to sit tight and see what happens. I've no doubt in my mind that this club will still be in the Championship come May, and believe that a takeover will have occurred by then. I reckon it'll be completed around February/March time. Pure guess, but considering that these things don't happen over night, 6-12 months is a fair estimate I reckon.
Investors want to safeguard t here investment the best they can... Without a deal for the land, no one will want to cough up . They will not be in it for the love... Just the money..
Would relegation alter the price? Think both parties would like the takeover to be effected while they can influence that out come, namely the January transfer window.
I cannot see why if the billionaires wanted a club it would be Barnsley .The only attractive buisnes thing at oakwell is the land that comes with the club .If Its that important to Barnsley s status then sell it and lets have a bit of cash to spend. Surely the day to day running of a club cant be that difficult I mean who is making the decisions now. (at my company ,work place the day to day running is left to a small team of good competent managers and the owners only step in on very rare occasions .sometimes it seams that the reds aren't aware of who is in charge
Billionaires want "clubs like Barnsley" because they want to get a club to the "top" and they have too much brass. I'd be amazed if Chien Lee is even thinking about selling the land!
Someone else coming out of the woodwork claiming it's just about sorting the legal paperwork. I have a nephew who is a corporate lawyer in the city - im sure it wouldnt take that long.
Through work I’ve been involved in takeovers on a much smaller scale. Takes as long as it takes. 6-9 months reasonable with possible 3 months due to council involvement.
Patrick responded to this angle at the meeting, he basically said all premiership clubs are either already foreign owned or are owned by individuals who are not prepared to sell. Similarly in the championship many are owned by foreign investors, Wolves, Wednesday, United, Birmingham, QPR, to name but 2. As mentioned we are a championship club, making a profit, a rare commodity.
And a 1 in 23 chance of getting into the promise land every season (when in the champ of course) which ant bad odds.. with a little bit of investment and Hecky magic... definitely not impossible..
It's pretty obvious the take over is still on. Confused to why people think it wouldn't be. All the club is saying is "no comment" which tells you all you need to know
