Team I expect? No idea Team I'd like to see Walton Mccarthy - pinnock - Jackson - new signing Isgrove - new signing - potts - Hedges Bradshaw - moore
Also willing to give Mowatt another chance. He has the talent, problem lies with temperament. I also expect great things from Isgrove and Hedges. We know what Isgrove can do and Hedges showed in a few cameo sub appearances what a threat he can be. As ever, I’m foolishly optimistic!
Yes, from what we've got at the moment, that's what I'm thinking. He may go with just 1 up (Moore you would guess), with Moncur or McGeehan
Moncur better have spent the last couple of months locked in a gym with just a personal trainer and a psychologist in there. He wouldn't be anywhere near the club based on last seasons piss poor lack of effort
A few in that category. I'm hoping with a new manager & last year of his contract he may put in a shift, like he did at the end of 2016/17 season. Only thing is he had Matty James then with him in midfield. Hence needing a really good holding player is key.
Yes I'm hoping he will put the effort in because he's certainly capably technically. I would have got rid of him but having kept him I just hope he realises how lucky he is and shows the desire needed because he could be a very good player for years to come. He could actually be another hammill to us if he put in the effort
If we go 3 at the back, then Pinnock Jackson and Lindsay is a strong back 3 - possibly strongest in this league. Either Davies or Walton in goal, and you’ve got to admit, that’s a great defensive unit. I think it’s going to be a rollercoaster season - but a good one overall. Looking forward to it to be fair. We should fear no-one at all - respect, but not fear. Even Sunderland who will be the biggest club haven’t as good a squad as ours.
I've no idea what formation our new coach favours, so it'll be difficult to accurately predict his team selection. I don't know whether there are certain players Daniel favours, or doesn't rate amongst the current squad. Neither do I know if there are any potential new targets he's wanting to bring in to strengthen his squad. I would imagine that all the current lads start with a clean slate with him, so it'd be churlish for me not to do the same. Personally, I can't wait for the new season to start.
I personally think we are strong with a line up like this Walton Mccarthy - pinnock - Jackson defensive midfielder/holding midfielder Isgrove -Mowatt - potts - Hedges Bradshaw - moore I would like to see an old head someone that can put his foot on the ball someone that can just hold up play for that minute
I never said mowatt was unfit but they were 1st team players who looked unfit. Thing with mowatt is he got sent off on his debut and did nothing in a red shirt since and if he was the fittest player they must of been another reason hecky loaned him out.
To me it looks as though the coach rates Cameron McGeehan. The lad is considering putting his International career on hold, because he's said it would mean missing some games for the Reds which he says is unacceptable, and to my mind is to be admired. He must also be confident of a regular place, as he's played well in both pre-season friendlies and in both games, Stendel has handed him the captains armband for both halves he's played in.
Sounds very much as though the squad are really enthused with Stendel and his coaching team. Moncur, Brown, Isgrove, McGeehan, Adeboyejo, Hedges have all complimented his attitude and methods in to-days Chronicle. Adam Davies says that under Stendel, it's noticeable that the training intensity has increased 1,000 fold. He's personally been given video clips of Germany's No 1 Manuel Neuer, with a view to adapting his style to help in the new system of pressing high up the field. To to assist in this, Davies or whoever plays in goal will be expected to adapt their game by being employed a " sweeper keeper."
Picked up from iFollow footage by the sound of it. Some interesting questions, particularly Mottley Henry saying they've been practicing 5 at the back and 4-4-2. My perception had been we'd be playing 4-5-1, so found that especially interesting. Will also be interesting to see what the mood is a few months into the season and how they develop. You'd expect players to sound more positive with a clean slate after the dreadful predecessor.
