From the elation of last season to this.

We all knew after that transfer window that we would struggle but I was not prepared for the complete lack of interest I’ve got in this season. I’ve watched games and kept track of scores but I am finding myself less and less bothered each week. I understand fans want their team to play at the highest level they possibly can but I would much rather be in League 1 where we can have a go at teams and actually enjoy the football being served up.

The gulf in class is too much for a team like us, and even though we’ve spent the majority of our life in the second tier, I feel that we are a third tier club that are punching above our weight around clubs that historically have been lower down the pyramid than us. Unfortunately whereas other teams have progressed as the years have gone on, we haven’t, we continue to spend low and sell at the first sniff of interest (usually for a low number) & our transfer record is still stuck in 1997. Having said that I would much rather have a football club in League 1 than try and spend beyond our means to reach the premier league (which holds no interest for me at all). Unfortunately we have to suffer disappointing season after season in the championship until we eventually fall through the trapdoor to our natural level, where we will all fall back in love with football again before gaining promotion and thus the cycle continues.

    This is the Barnsley way

I want to us to stay and play in the Championship, but the owners **** it up for us every time we get here. We dont need opposition to beat us, our own do that after every Promotion.

It’s because it’s the 3rd rebuild with young players.

Everyone only has so much patience, in normal circumstances I would’ve gone to Forest today but I didn’t because I didn’t feel like we were likely to score a goal.

It’s also the second season out of 3 where we’ve started the season with an unsuitable strikeforce. It’s frustrating.

    Agree with you both completely.

Obviously I want us to compete in whatever league we’re in and if we ever got back in the Prem of course I would be delighted (as much as the league doesn’t interest me) because it would come off the back of a successful season.

Won’t happen for many a year unfortunately, I understand that the new owners aren’t going to go daft with money and it’s a long term project but if they’re gonna run it as the Crynes did then there is nothing to get excited about.

I feel very sorry for DS and I fear he will walk at any minute not that I’d blame him. For me any failure this season will be the fault of the board (with only a small amount of blame placed at Daniels feet). I understand that others will feel different about this

I'm losing interest rapidly I was never a big fan of Cryne and these billionaires we have owning the club appear to be putting less in than he did. We have become a laughing stock. Does anyone else think we will be asset stripped like poor old Bury were? It's clear the Club have no ambition, Manager and players yes, owners no.

A small minority on here are already starting to blame Stendel but yet won't have a bad word said about Conway and Chien Lee.

I went today and we battered them for large spells but couldn’t finish.
I’m sure we will start picking up results if we continue to work this hard and develop.
    Onto the next one.

I just hope that if we are not going to improve the squad, that the drop comes this season, rather than having 2 or 3 years of losing every week and trying to hang in there, before we all lose interest completely.
