It wouldn't be the first instance of a player's form dipping after being handed the captaincy though, would it? Personally, I think the captaincy should have been given to Hammill, with Gus being allowed to carry on improving his game. He's still relatively young. With regards to his indiscretion at Bramall Lane, he apologised for it publicly, and ended up losing his place in the team for two months because of it. As far as I'm concerned, a line has been drawn under it and it's been consigned to the bin of history.
Has been poor this season and maybe Pearson will get another chance. But he may not be any better. Jackson would must likely still be first choice if he hadn't got injured.
Fair enough. It wouldn't be the first time no. Alfie Mawson also struggled. A change in captain needs to be considered though in my opinion.
Like what? Come on. Although I ought to be careful, I’ll be bullying you next. What he does outside of football is irrelevant to me.
He ******* is. And that is football related. I didn’t bring his god bothering or **** “tatts” into in.
Do you think he’s getting to the point where we ought to cut our losses? FWIW I think it’s ill advised at best to have tattoo’s done the day before a game.
I wouldn't be sad to see Macdonald sold. Personally think his focus went over the summer and into the early season and as a result he's towing for form now.
Interesting post this, along with the ones that criticise Potts, Moncur and Gardner, just to name 3. Some people, me included think that Payne was allowed to early, without being given the proper chance that others have had, but apparently "hecky made his decision and we trust hecky" Hecky made his decision to promote MacDonald to club captain and for Potts to play almost every game this season, yet they are getting hammered, especially Potts, by some fans. Surely if Hecky picks them, you shouldn't question it? Or does that only work when it suits? This isn't a dig at the OP btw.
I have absolutely no problem with any of our players using their time away from football to pursue other business interests. A footballer’s career is incredibly short in comparison to most other professions so it’s good to see a player being constructive with his time and having the foresight to plan ahead.
He’s not been as good as last season but that’s not surprising, he came into a solid side with a team who knew each other & had Roberts alongside him. Now he’s got much more responsibility & a team of kids alongside him. The other argument is if you did change the captaincy who do you give it to? It’s not like there’s a few obvious leaders
Genuine question as I’ve never had one & don’t know much about them. How would getting a tattoo hinder your performance a day later?
Its a huge open wound. They're sore and painful especially when knocked. You also wouldn't want to damage it sliding around a football field after shelling out £300 on something thats on your body for life. Personally I wouldn't get a tattoo a few days before doing anything physical because they're a pain in the arse when healing.
I think you are bang on here because we have the youngest age squad in the championship we are short on leaders. Maybe Lindsay could do it. I like gus but I don' think he is captain material he has been poor this season an I'm not sure he should be selling cars and clothes in his spare time or getting tattoos before games. But that's up to the club to sort and should hecky be picking a player who has got a tattoo the day before a game? Never mind letting him captain lead by example and all that.
