I love watching BFC, always have done. I still get that buzz on matchdays and always have that anticipation for the coming season, regardless of what went off the season before.

I have always thought that in the 35ish years i have watched them i have actually been pretty fortunate in seeing the good times that i have, certainly better than those who saw the previous 35 years. My grandad for instance spent much more than 35 years watching the reds. His last game was during the season we got promoted to the prem. Due to poor eyesight and poor health he missed most of that season and he never got to see his beloved reds play in the top league.

I have also seen some dross in my time watching, but again there will be plenty who have seen hell of a lot worse. At no point though have i questioned my reasons for watching the reds. To me supporting them is as much to do with the social aspect than just the footballing side, I love having a laugh with the lads before and after, regardless of results.

My hope is that if i ever get to the stage where i feel the need to vent my spleen on a daily basis on a football forum about what we have or haven't spent, who we have or haven't bought, if the ground has or hasn't been painted, if the plan is or isn't working or if there is enough ketchup in the concourses at half time etc.., that r lass or someone else close to me will tap me on the shoulder and say "its time to step away and do something else" I hope it never gets to that.

Not 100% sure what i am trying to say has i have had a few cans and im sure not many will read this but here's hoping for a cracking season, you reds

    cheers
    kev xx

6/7's want money BFC can't pay. Ergo, BFC lost Houriane

Brilliant input. Who has the family brain cell tonight?

I was saying some might ask themselves that question. At least any capable of rational thought anyway.

I think I understood what you were saying, not sure if I explained myself well enough though :)
Using your analogy... it was never the plan to buy a '3' build them to a '7', sell them and buy an '8'. The plan, as I understand it was to sell the '7' and buy a '4' instead of a '3', or two '3's, which I think we are doing.
The idea being that we then either develop the '4' to an '8' or we buy two at '3' and end up with two at '7'.

There might be an argument to say we should now be buying a '6' but although we could probably afford a '6' to buy, we couldn't sustain the wages they would want. Maybe in a few years time. For now it makes sense to take small increments as we may well end up being in a battle to survive and having a team of players signed at '3' on smaller wages would be sustainable in league 1.

I'm not observant but I'm sure I would have spotted us signing him.

To be honest I love us fighting against the odds

Can take good life lessons from it too

    It's 11 v 11 and it's a battle

    Bring it on

Every bugger except Burton were paying more than us last season, but
Cracking post. R lass has just caught me on the laptop googling "how much was Jovo Bosancic on a week at Barnsley and if he'd been on more would his first touch have been more exquisite"

I think it might be time for me...

But with Cameron been hopefully successful, we could be in a position to reinvest for a player of that standard. It's how other clubs have done it.

There is zero chance we will sign another centre half on loan when we have signed two for decent money to supplement the two we had. Your other points though are relatively sane. To move the plan forward we need to take calculated risks.

A championship club will go bust soon, it's got to happen. They can't all keep getting bailed out by new owners.

I understand the point you are making although I don't agree. But isn't this the point of being a fan of a club that can't compete financially, that there will be 'aberrations' and 'random acts'. It's that which gives us hope and a degree of optimism, these things can and do happen. At the risk of stating the obvious, only the fans of 10 teams out of 72 are going to be happy at the end of every season. There is no absolute certainty, even for the likes of Manchester Utd/City, Chelsea et al. There are dozens of different reasons why I support BFC and whilst I am as angered as anybody about the state of finances in football, I will not be giving up on BFC any time soon.

BFC won't be spending transfer income on wages it cannot afford to pay

Kev you make far more sense and sound far more rational after a few cans than the majority of posters do every day.
