Just watched another programme about the Nazca lines and once again I am left totally stunned and perplexed by it all.
How and why they were made is beyond comprehension. Nearly 2000 year old and still nobody knows why they were done, saying that the only way to view them both now and when they were being made was from the air.
And they keep finding new shapes and lines to add to the hundreds they already know about. Astonishing !!

Many ancient societies worshipped sky gods. The people were just as bright as us. Had the same brain capacity but just lacked the accumulated knowledge and technology that we have. I'd say they were easily capable of drawing out a message to their gods in the form of pictograms on a piece of paper and then translating it on a massive scale on the ground. Just the same as the ancient Egyptians were able to build their temples with astonishing accuracy. Only saying like...:)

It is pretty damn incredible, but agree with Churtonred on this. Technology and knowledge has gone it fits & starts.

    Costly as well.
Remember that marathon I did last year?
Half of what I raised went towards her fund raising to go on it.

    Life changing journey for her.

They certainly had the ability to do it, remember that the Romans made very long straight roads (up and down hills as well) without the help of aerial photography and the ancient Greeks measured (quite accurately) the diameter of the earth with two sticks stuck vertically in the ground simply by measuring the lengths of the shadows and the distance between the sticks, using geometry. We are fooled by modern technology into the belief that it's impossible to do such things without it.
