Punish them by compulsory attendance of a Hemsworth Tyke football seminar. In fact a whole series of them.
Stewards are mainly there for safety and mediation mainly they are not law enforcers nor have any authority to do so. The ones with the authority sit in the background waiting for their chief to try and screw as much out of the club to subsidise underfunding at govt level before they are told to act.
They can remove you from the premises it's part of the remit. They can also obtain details so a banning order can be processed. Other clubs stewards are far better than ours. Vandalism like this should not be unchallenged. It should have been stopped at source. Anything else is just smoke and mirrors. On several occasions a couple of years ago when I say in the Ponty I asked the stewards to intervene on some vile racist chanting they did nowt. So me and my brother ended up taking matters into our own hands. It's just shoddy. I'm not excusing the idiots but stewards presumably just stood watching them do it and did not act.
There's different Stewards for various tasks. I've stewarded at oakwell many moons ago before Doyle's with Special Events co the steward you asked was probably a safety steward who gives directions in an emergency helps find your seat keeps gangways clear etc. Some of these steward are nowt but students earning a bit of spendo . There are stewards trained to intervene in such things as what you are saying but they are/should only be intermediary with immediate but temporary intervention . The fact they sometimes go above and beyond is more to do with the financial arrangements of clubs and PSs. Not saying there isn't safety stewards who don't intervene in such incidents in fact I knew one or two who would have been disappointed if such incidents hadn't arisen.
Would it not be up to the safety steward (who to the customer is just a steward) to then contact the correct type of steward and get the problem sorted or are they literally told not to pass things on? Also what do you mean by temporary intervention? Ta
While the police arrive. Yes they should be able to inform other stewards but more often than not its already been monitored and steward will have been told to just carry on in there position. In my experience that is anyway. Sonevof these stewards are 18 year old lasses ffs.
Since Doyle has taken over its the link between safety stewards and the other stewards that is lacking. No one seems to take responsible for incidents or capable of raising them as issues. In the case of damage to property it clearly should have been escalated and the police called but presumably wasn't.
