A myth or that there aren't as many as you would think? I can certainly vouch for a few that I know. First bloke I bumped into in ground yesterday, kelvin from Tankersley. I bet he's rarely missed a game in decades.
I think that Kelvin may be the bloke people round me in the Ponty used to call "Chuffin' F'in" . Used to swear like a trooper, to the point he'd even swear about the rain! If he's the bloke I'm thinking of he had a tasche, quite small, and was often seen outside the club shop? Nevertheless probably the definitive BFC fan in my book as he was at every game I was ever at.
http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/bars.htm I look at this quite regularly and compare it to the club's whos fans give it the "team's like Barnsley".
Yes more that and how valuable they are to a club. I’m sure it talked about a 20 percent attrition rate over 5 seasons and that this is replaced by ‘new fans’ but clubs target existing ones at the expense of potential. Trying to remember who did it. I’m sure it’ll jump into my befuddled mind.
Well said Fi. I never would have imagined that there were so many spoilt barstewards either living in or perporting to hail from Barnsley. Patience seems to be something of the past or for fools. Well the "gizzit, gizzit nar" gang can f*** right off for me.
I'm on the side of Hecky, currently. However it is not unconditional and he cannot be immune from criticism just because of his perceived lack on input and budget. I believe that his job, and the job of any coach/manager is to take all the parts of the team and create a finished picture which is more effective then the on-paper value of its parts. Otherwise, there is no point in the manager/coach and the chairman's daughter should be put in charge and the extra money spent on wages, as wages are the greatest factor effecting team performance. If we agree that is his job, then we have a debate as to whether any individual coach/manager is effective in his role - there should be room here to agree and disagree on this point and non-personal arguments should be brought to the debate.
I never understood why that was so. We were in the top four ALL season so I would suggest we were onto something right from the start. That glorious opening day win at The Hawthorns told me that. I was there and it was obvious that we had something special.
