Fired's comments were on the doom and negativity on this board these days. It wasn't an overreaction - 40 people agree with her
Massive huge over reaction so that the OP gets some replies. Like those people on Facebook who just write a status saying 'you'll never believe what's just happened' This is a site for all, but quite frankly maybe not for you if it's a place of 'utmost misery' and 'really tiresome'. Why would you waste your time with something that produces those reactions??
I think there is a lot of truth in what has been posted - it did used to be a place of fun and I know a lot of people who gave stopped posting for the reasons stated in the original post.
The truth is though , many fans have not drifted away , our gates are holding up as well if not better than 13 years ago , yes people come & go , thats football, but our crowds are reasonably good
That'll be him. Used to stand in front of the big gap in the back of the Ponty. We used to call him "tw@t", as it seemed his word of choice. He was always with his brother and a small group of older blokes and would simmer away until he finally exploded.
You're of course entitled to your view but you obviously don't know Fired. An attention seeker she is not. She's just trying to reduce the amount of personal abuse that makes rational debate with some posters impossible.
No fun and nonsense on this board anymore, let's get back to the days of Jay and dirk dry loving each other every day and big lil getting his breasts out every friday
fired is not an attention seeker ( fi-red) I think we've met on a couple of bbs'ers but the ale was flowing so who knows. like most fans on here she's a realist who knows that there is/has been a massive change in the clubs strategy in the last couple of years over the way forward. in any change this big there were always going to be setbacks and hiccups so its got to be "quietly, quietly catchee monkey", things take time, not like the usual 3-4 people that no matter what the club does will always try and find a way to diride (?) the clubs efforts, I notice that while you are on here you're not tending your multi million pound business empire with it 100+ staff or managing and coaching a major European football club of your own ! so perhaps you should leave it to those people that may ( I know that's not in your opinion )possibly have a clue what they're up to, only time will tell. in the mean time stop behaving like immature children kicking the back of the drivers seat constantly crying " are we there yet, are we there yet, what about now, what about now"......................... just the thoughts of an old tired jedi
I haven't been a BBS member long enough to say whether it's better or worse than it used to be, but as a former Tykesmad poster I much prefer this place. Granted, I've seen a few threads that have been spoilt by a couple of members recycling the same sentences twenty times in a bid to have the last word, and there's also (IMHO) too many duplicate threads, usually Hecky this, Hecky that or Hecky t'other. But in the main, this place is ok. There's some knowledge able folk on here and plenty to chuckle about. Can't ask for much more that that. Anybody who thinks the bar needs raising, should do something about it - post some thought-provoking threads, crack a few jokes, that sort of thing. No good just moaning. You'll end up like me.
I have to plead guilty on that front. I ought to start more threads as a contribution. Trouble is I usually think it would not be of interest or has already been covered so I tend not to. Consequently most of my posts tend to be reactive rather than proactive. I do tend to get drawn into the same old arguments and don't particularly like doing so. I more or less stayed off here for a couple of weeks recently as I knew the negativity would draw me into more arguing. Nevertheless it is still a great place to feel part of the club and fanbase, especially as I live over the water. Right I'm stopping waffling now, I seem to have lost track of what my point was.
I went to an old friend's funeral yesterday. He died after being hit by a tennis ball. It was a lovely service. Best I can manage at short notice.
I've given the club since 1977, so I'll give the new owners as long as is needed. Let's face it none of us are going to switch our allegiance to any other club. We all support Barnsley FC and, on the whole, since 77 it's been a pleasure. I'd love to be in the Premier League but, frankly, I'll take a team that is solvent and tries to play decent football in any division.
I'm struggling to think of a time when this board was a good laugh tbf. I actually think there are some people on here who get a bit of a perverse thrill out of other supporter's disappointments. I'm sure there are people on here who are hoping we have a bad window so they can make plenty of snide comments when others start posting of their disappointment. Mentioning no names.
Mid 1990s it was an absolute scream though you were quite likely to have to actually meet up for a scrap if you pushed things too far.
