my local area Fareham stays in tier 2... it's literally joined onto Gosport who move into Tier 3. They've got no ******* idea.
Have a look at the map on BBC News. Soz can't post it. Sth York's on average upto 50% reduction........ But still the gyms, shopping centres, schools, Uni's, hairdressers, supermarkets can stay open. But the hospitality sector again will suffer but you can still go to Nanna Mables for Xmas dinner. And at the busiest time of the year financially the pubs etc get enough compo to not even cover rent. And not taking into consideration the rest of bills, no income........ I'm effin fuming at the effect this lot are doing to people I care about. Businesses, houses, livelihoods lost on top of the longer lasting effect it will have on them. Bunch of Cnutz
Getting heartily sick of this government and it's scientific advisors. Today was our last chance for weeks to get into tier 2 for hospitality to get a bit of welcome and deserved relief. It'll be fine to mix at other households over Christmas and then pile into the shops for the January sales but no chance of a meal or drink in a socially distanced environment of a well run pub or restaurant. No doubt at all that the rate will rise during January and still hospitality will bear the brunt, even though it'll be 8 weeks plus by then since it was open in our area. The lunatics truly are running the asylum.
At not one point have I seen the 'lunatics' give a valid reason to why it is ...... ? They had the most stringent rules to abide by. The 'lunatics' own experts say apart from been in prison they were the safest place to be. Sanctions were put in place (10pm closing, can only drink with a substantial meal etc) but then shops/stores can open 24/7 to kick start economy?!? Crock of sh1t4
We are in tier 2 in Selby and as someone who works in hospitality i can tell you tier 2 offers no relief. My workplace has stayed shut we just can't afford to risk buying in stock and restarting various contracts that are suspended while we are shut in case we get put into another lockdown or higher tier. Some pubs over here have reopened offering a meal to go with drinks but they are really struggling to get enough custom and opening up has put them at further risk of closure the longer this goes on. It's not just the food but the household bubble only rule reduces capacity and it was hard enough before. We are lucky as we have 7 hotel rooms that we have managed to open to the local authority to house those that are in need but that only covers enough to break even so my boss who also happens to be my sister is really struggling to keep not only her business but her home as she lives at the property.
Feel your pain for you and your sister. Hope things work out. It's all individual circumstances. I know 3 pub owners very well who would all love to at least open and break even. Let's hope things eventually change for the better for all concerned.
I agree for most breaking even is as good as can be expected right now. Without the rooms we would have gone to the wall so in that respect we are lucky.
Don't worry. Many many people connected to Tory MPs have made an absolute fortune out of the pandemic. So be safe, be responsible, follow the rules that they (and their journalist pals) continue to break. If you are struggling for food, don't worry, because for the first time in history, UNICEF will be feeding our starving children - which Tory millionaire from the 1700's, Rees-Mogg says is a scandal. Don't worry about the news that the vaccine rollout will slow - possibly to a halt - in January, because the Tories will find some private pals who can magically make it start up again for a few billion pounds. Ignore all the scientific fear-mongering about the five-day Xmas relaxation of the rules. That's definitely going to benefit you all. It won't lead to lockdown three at the end of January. Honest. And they relaxed the rules for Eid didn't they? It's not like they announced extreme lockdown measures three hours before that religious festival. And don't forget, we take back our country in a couple of weeks too! Merry Christmas x
Surrey is now in tier 3 too except the Waverley area where all the posh people live. Having said that the footballers hotbed area of Cobham/Oxshott/Stoke D'Abernon are all tier 3 too so if any paparazzi want some incriminating pictures of Christmas parties.................. Just me and my good lady Susan at home for Christmas this year and staying local as she feels safer that way
My message? I can't wait to travel to Wales and back on Saturday and then not celebrate another win at my pub down the street on Sunday.
I have countless friends, family and associates who are being slowly strangled to death by the actions of this 'government' while everything points to those in government making a fortune for them and/or their pals.
Apologies once again. I work for the NHS and am dumfounded by the measures put in place. I'm o.k to risk my life but can't have a pint after a hard week at work in a Covid safe institution.
