Anyone remember the "Tonight's Tipple" series of threads from many years ago? Well here's my choice for this evening. Cheers all.
Sooner eat those than wipe my ar$e on them - hurt like mad and $hit wouldn’t stick to it. Standard school issue 60s and 70s. Kids today don’t know they’re born.
Made good tracing paper though Seem to remember every sheet having "Property of West Riding County Council" printed on it.....who would want to nick it ?
Apart from things that would actually hurt you, it's difficult to think of any other product that would be worse at the job Izal was designed to do. It just smeared it up your back. Any item of clothing - better Any type of cloth - better Normal writing paper - better Newspaper - better Carpet - better A dog - better Frozen peas - better A ball of string - better Monster Munch - better
And, after decades of wild walking and camping adventures.... Leaves, especially dock leaves Dry peat, or better still damp peat followed by dry peat Straw or hay, or most long grass types Sphagnum moss, especially soothing if plucked from a sparkling spring Grass sods, followed by a refreshing dip in the nearest pool Waterfalls, if accessible Water lilies
But not nettles.....unless you're into that kind of thing On the other hand it will just be similar to using Izal
I have 5 rolls of Izal bog roll. Just for fun, a museum piece, not for use. Too many bad memories from childhood. Along with the flat boxes of Izal with the single sheets inside.
I recall that Izal was manufactured in Sheffield . It was awful stuff. My Dad had a phobia about toilet rolls. I think it started during World War 2 by having to use newspaper or worse still Izal. My sister and myself were talking about our childhood the other week and we both remember that our late Dad always bought soft toilet tissue in bulk when we were kids bless him and we were joking that Andrex profits must have taken a right hit when he died.
