I reckon my favourite three are: Enjoy the Melodic Sunshine by Cosmic Rough Riders Rainy Day Music by The Jayhawks Head First by Goldfrapp Although if the 2000s are just the years 2000 to 2009 I'll have to take the Goldfrapp one out and replace it with The Life Pursuit by Belle and Sebastian.
My personal 3 fav's By the Way- Red Hot Chili Peppers Ocean Avenue- Yellowcard Whatever people say I am, that's what i'm not- Arctic Monkeys
Good shout mate with Goldfrapp, Black Cherry, Supernature and Head First are cracking noughties albums. For my top three I'd probably go: Johnny Cash - American IV The Man Comes Around Everclear - Songs From An American Movie Vol1 Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Howl Honourable mentions to: Avalanches - Since I Left You Anthony And The Johnsons - I Am A Bird Now Kings Of Leon - Youth And Young Manhood Kanye West - Late Registration Brian Wilson - Smile Scissor Sisters - Self Titled Elton John - Songs From The West Coast Goldie Lookin Chain - Greatest Hits Foo Fighters - There Is Nothing Left To Lose The Enemy - We'll Live And Die In These Towns
Audioslave - audioslave Youth and young manhood - Kings of Leon Everyday demons - the answer
Good call yourself with Songs From the West Coast. By far and away his best album since his 70s heyday and possibly my favourite of all his albums.
Late Registration - great album. Glad there's another Antony and the Johnsons fan too. Am I the only one who thinks A-Ha Shake Heartbreak is better than Youth and Young Manhood?
Sadly his output for the lat dozen years or so has been...okay. Still good to see live though, when he can be bothered. Funnily enough, I managed to get hold of some Subterranean Hawks demos a few days ago from 1979, including a version of Kiss Me that, I think, Kusworth is playing on.
Great shout with JFPL, a truly sensational album within a sea of mediocrity since This Is My Truth. I thought that they would be back on form for good, but as Postcards For A Young Man proved, it was just a reverse blip. Other bands from my school and uni days who released unexpected gems at the tail end of their careers around this time were REM (Accelerate) and The Charlatans (Cross My Path).
