Did a little distillery tour last year whilst on a Scotland road trip to Skye. Glenn Goyne it was called. Still using its old style machinery. And got a bottle to sample. Very nice it was too.
Prefer Cognac and dark rum to be honest - however, family & friends clearly think I like whiskey cos I get it for presents (better than socks)! Balvenie Doublewood Glenmorangie (the light coloured one 10 or -2 years old?) Glen Moray (cos bought a bottle when my 1st grandchildren (twins) were born so special) Balvenie Carribean Cask Old Glenfiddich
If it's not 50years old a dunt bother. https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/1857/dalmore-50-year-old-sherry-cask-crystal-decanter
Got to agree about the Old Pulteney, but besides the higher priced stuff must confess a (very) big soft stuff for Jamesons
I drink loads of Whisky and Bourbon and consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur and could list so many more than five but here is my list from the under £40 /£50 range that I really enjoy: Single Malt Whisky: Dalmore 12 year old. Glenlivet Founders Reserve Talisker Storm The Balvenie Double Wood 17 years Tobermory 12 Year Old Bourbon Buffalo Trace Makers Mark 46 Elijah Craig Small Batch Woodford Reserve Wild Turkey Rare Breed I dont drink many blended Whiskies but a special mention to one in particluar which was superb but was sadly discontinued by Glenmorangie a couple of years ago.
