Labour's spending plans seem unrealistic as best. I didn't mentioned the other parties as my post was about Labours specifically. I'm not interested in the slightest what the Lib Dems say they will do, they will not get my vote. Labour on the other hand do have that chance, I've voted Labour at election so far so it's no so far fetched. I disagree on their Brexit stance however the election is about more than brexit. My focus on Labour was on the basis that what is being reported and from Corbyns speeches etc, makes any Tory spending plans look like a good night out lol.. If once available these independent bodies again say that they are realistic then it is likely that Dan will again get my vote. Plus a 4 day working week would save me some annual leave!
no, what you said was that 'some people shouldn't be allowed to vote' - is it a case of those who don't agree with you should be disenfranchised? and your term 'idiot' - is this your terminology for those who have a different point of view to yourself.
I do find Farage's stance on this very odd - not standing against Tories that will vote against Brexit, but standing against Labour MP's that will vote for it. Then risking splitting the Brexit vote in marginals that the Tories may have won and potentially letting in a Remainer candidate. This from the people who want to be trusted to play politics on the world stage, to broker trade deals with the most successful nations in the world? You could be mistaken for believing that his priority isn't Brexit at all - that he needs this sh1tshow to carry on forever to keep him relevant.
BBC 10 o' clock News will feature a statement by Farage that Tory HQ are contacting Brexit candidates asking them not to stand in exchange for jobs and freebies. Tories are saying it's not true. Not the ideal conduct of two parties who are supposed to be working " together" to ensure leaving the EU happens.
Not being a voter myself, and nivver will, but looking at the big picture, and all the arguments about alliances. Is it true that Labour would be better off if SNP stood down 2/3 million votes in Scotland, and if i recall is Scotland a Labour stronghold, or was. THIS IS AN OBSERVATION AND ONLY WANT AN ANSWER, NOT A 3 YEAR FALLOUT. Thankyou.
Scotland used to be a labour stronghold . , only got 7 MPS in Scotland last time I think . Majority now SNP
In 2017, SNP got 35 of the 59 odd seats (down from 56 in 2015). There are many ways you can describe 35/59, but it most certainly is a majority of seats in Scotland (at 37%, it was the largest party but not a majority of votes).
The Scots labour MPs are sorely missed at Westminster that is a fact . Along with the Industrial Northern MPs the Labour Party were a formidable force . However middle England bestowed a Tory Government on them time after time which disregarded the MPs and more importantly the people who represented them . When a labour government gets into power it’s expected to run the country for all but a Tory government runs it for their friends and rules on division. I would welcome a govt that is inclusive of everyone as in Scandinavia although not perfect they are inclusive . Imo a labour govt is more inclusive than a Tory govt as we have heard the rhetoric road BOJO tried to take the current election campaign untill he was taken to task .
And that, in a nutshell, is why our voting system is broken. Just like the UK Parliament is broken; when a political party can command a majority in the HoC with < 50% of the votes cast
I think you've got the wrong end of the stick....the OP was referring to Members of the Scottish Parliament. Edit....apologies.... having read it again it was me that got the wrong end of the stick!!!
Not all SNP members are after Independence - some want a better deal for Scotland from Westminster. If the UK leave the EU the Scots will have a dilemma. If they vote for Independence they will be isolated and dependent on all the remaining 26? EU countries agreeing to their re-admittance into the EU - could take years. Ian can advise here - but my guess is that if the UK is out of the EU Scotland wont vote for Independence
