Booked Sheffield to London returns last Saturday to travel next Saturday, July 1st, £23 each, upgraded to first class for an extra fiver apiece. Mind you that was with senior railcards.

Don't think you could get a return to Sheffield for the equivalent of 11 Euros.

I thought dutch trains looked like absolute **** tips from the outside, but were immaculate inside, and super fast Wifi!

I've just booked my mum tickets to come down to London in September, £36 pounds return.

If you pay on the day its often pretty steep and its all a bit of a lottery. Can be good value, can be a rip off.

I booked in advance on Grand Central to London and then onwards on Gatwick Express for £28.

How much for a Cleethorpes return with option of a full refund if I wanted to cancel?

Just for a laugh I put in Farnham to Bristol for opening match
a super off peak return is £50 but I can buy a single there for £14:50 and one back for £12:00 as long as I buy them now - both listed as limited availlability

As its 2 hours 40 mins each way to Bristol centre and I can drive it to the ground in 1 hour 30 mins I'm unlikely to go by train though

Used to have to do it regularly when I was representing my Employer on Consultation Groups at
HM Treasury in Westminster. With overnight hotel , taxis, tube, snap a couple of jars , parking at Wakefield Station for two
days you could be looking at the thick end of £700 each trip.

The offices I used to go to in Westminster not before time have now been re-located to the Pier Head Liverpool.
Talking to the lad who took my job recently. Out and back in the day using his Lease car, snap provided at dinner time
by the Treasury, the cost to send him is now around 40 quid.!

Coming back from London could also be a nightmare. If you didn't pay extra to reserve a seat you could be stood outside the bog in the corridor until you reached Peterborough at least. Been still standing at Grantham a couple of times.!

    Absolute disgrace.

It's a disgrace mate and they're often delayed or cancelled especially on the way back at 5. My company pay for the tickets thankfully or I wouldn't be going.

Is there a reason why cross country is so expensive?

Relatively short trains means that they're always packed. It makes them seriously unpleasant to travel on and, I assume, means they don't have the need to sell as many off cheap to fill space.

    is it? - ******* hell!

Its "only" about £180 from Donny. So another £70 for a further 25 miles or so.

But anyone who turns up and pays on the day for any kind of distance needs their bumps feeling. Pay 1 day in advance and you can get to London for about £120 if you pick specific trains, even in peak time if you pick the right train.
