Someone might know more but I’m sure the figure we were told in a meeting was close to £1.5m.

We did get some of it subsidised though but not sure that was a permanent thing. Fairly confident the word ‘million’ was used.

I know you couldn't as a lawsuit would most likely follow.

He's been getting rave reviews in the Europa League this season.

Them were the words I was looking for but I had a sudden attack of politeness. I've got to stop that happening.

My favourite argument at the moment is 'running costs'. Apparently we've got to sell 30 million worth of players every two years just to keep afloat. People are saying this in all seriousness. It's ******* mental.

Having the academy license costs us over £1 million a year. Straight from the mouths of Mansford and Cryne numerous times during the record defeats run with Johnson in charge.

I’d like to think you know I’m reasoned enough not to just pluck a number out of thin air. It was the academy license that was the main driver for Cryne having to donate the club money each season (amongst other things).

I know it wasn’t you but I’d expect a better response that ‘is it ****’. Jesus wept.

I don't think you plucked a number out of thin air but.....................did.

Who do clubs pay the licence fee to? The FA?

The problem we have here Loko is that both you and I are layman. And I know for certain I've been told massive lies by people at Barnsley football club. And I'll put the caveat in, since John Dennis left. Where as the person who just said 'is it ****' was, for a number of years, the accountant at a Premier League football club.

There’s every chance you’re right, but I’ve seen other clubs classed with the same grade as we have sight annual licensing costs. Is it a Grade A Academy that we’re classed as?

I think there’s plenty of posters who warrant an ‘is it ****’ response but it’s hardly adding to a debate or discussion is it? When people say this BBS is on its arse I’d say that’s one of the reasons why. I’m not over here making up rumours based on complete fiction. For what it’s worth I think all people in a position of power and who have influence are likely to tell lies when they need to, but this one seemed genuine and I personally (and others) had no reason not to believe them.

Seem to think the last conversation I had with Mansford/Cryne was that it cost the club about 750K net but there was a sum of money that came from some PL/FL fund or other that represented the rest (500k???). Wasnt to buy a licence rather what was required to meet the academy criteria for the level we are at. (Is it cat 2? can't quite remember). That was a 2 or 3 years ago though I think so may have changed.

I don't think you're making stuff up mate, I really don't. And I can't argue a different point of view because I don't know. What I said before was true, he was an accountant at a football club and we are told lies. Not little white lies, horrible lies.

I should have referred to the licence in my reply to Loko. I had never heard of this before but I had heard a figure of £750k as the total running cost of the academy. As you say, this is net of any external funding we received. Like you say, that figure will be what is required to meet the necessary criteria. Can't see how there could be a licence fee.
