Their ground only holds 12,000. Whilst that would be ok for many of our home games, it wouldn't be enough. Our League 1 average was over 12,000 so there were some significantly higher attendances. A decent season in the Championship the average would somewhere near 15,000.

Sparky actually took me to see the NYS on one of my trips south.
It is a nice looking ground but I did think might have been just a little too small.

There would be more than enough room, because there'd be thousands of us who simply wouldn't go. I'm one of them.

Has this actually been on Sky Sports news?

Thought this was an old story from when we went out to the clubs in Lancashire to ask them about future ground shares. Court case power plays and all that. I know we asked Rotherham at the same time then and I don't think we've pushed it forward recently. Probably asked all clubs within an x mile radius to judge the response.

It might well be enough. I, for one, won’t be attending any ground outside the town for home fixtures.

I do think this is just a wind up but at least it's given people something to moan about on a snowy day:D

It's not a wind up. We definitely asked. But we all knew we were looking at ground options from the story that was leaked to the media months ago.

The council will never lock the doors on the club but if the club decides it doesn't want to play at Oakwell anymore what happens......

council not getting any rent, Cryne's and council left with half a stadium each with no team to play in it and the club left with a team but no stadium.

obviously a lot of this is posturing to place them selves in a good position to bargain with come the court case but its a heck of a mess, splitting the stadium 50% was meant to protect the fans, not so it seems as the club is wilfully looking at other options

    1. What's the club worth without Oakwell?
    2. What's the club worth playing elsewhere?
    3. Would they get a worthwhile return on their investment if we played elsewhere with the fans staying away in droves?
I can't see any benefit to them ground sharing.

The report I saw said we had made a second more recent enquiry but can’t remember if it was on a reputable site or not.

Maybe the solution is to share Oakwell and then there'd be less money for Barnsley FC to pay in rent.

If we moved to play at Rotherham I'd be surprised if any more than about 4,000 would bother to go. What a joke of a situation to be in.
Just pay the Crynes what they are owed.

With the disgraceful handling of the Wimbledon/MK Dons situation hopefully the EFL puts a stop to this and although we could lose our club at least they lose their investment and we could be encouraged to field a Phoenix club .
This discourages these charlatan companies who pretend to have the club/communities at heart to think twice .
The EFL should also have access to the negotiations with the parties imo
I know it’s unlikely as with the situation with Coventry but the EFL needs get a grip on takeovers and the raping of our clubs by venture capitalists .
