If you accept that the vast distances involved means visitors from other worlds are unlikely and , even if they did there is little doubt they would'nt just fly around a bit and then bugger off.

What would make this a feasible scenario, and we are talking in relative terms ,is that somehow (and currently it is way beyond our comprehension) Humans at some point in our existence discover the ability to time travel. It would explain 2 things that baffle UFO researchers i.e. :
1 Why do they not make contact?
2 Why do they always appear humanoid ìn many of the reported (claimed) contacts with them?

    Possible answer......

1 IF, and it is a massive IF, time travel was discovered, the danger of paradox would require very strict rules involving absolutely no interference with the timeline. No one can determine what the effects would be 'timey wimey' wise if someone changed history by some action that resulted in their own death meaning they could not have gone back and changed history (Wibble!!). This would explain why 'observers', have never made contact. Many science fiction stories series have this idea of people from the future manipulating their own past but always do so covertly.

2 Many people who reported 'alien' encounters describe pale, thin long limbed humanoid creatures with large saucer shaped eyes, hairless. Scientific research was done to determine how man might evolve in an artificial man made environment, e.g. low gravity, low artificial light levels, regulated climate e.g. in space. The projections showed thinner bones, less muscle needed due to lower gravity and also hairless due to regulated climate, larger eyes due to lower light levels.

Likely all nonsense but just as plausible as the theory of other beings travelling hundreds of light years to Earth and not even bother to say hello. That said, Steven Hawking was probably right in that any visitors may be hostile like scavenging nomads (plenty of sci-fi about covering that scenario) so we should probably not be announcing our presence to all and sundry.

Now where did I put my tin-foil hat?

Perhaps they have visited our planet and didn't bother to contact us as we aren't the most intelligent or civilised species here?

If they see how we are treating the planet and measure our benefit to it, they’d have no alternative other than to eradicate us.

The film Contact does show that the first tv broadcast was in 1936 from the Berlin Olympics. There had been radio broadcasts long before then but the implication is that at the speed of light, 186000 miles per second, it would take many, many years for these signals to reach the next star system and then, if anyone is there to receive it, the same amount of time to reply and for us to receive it.
The vast distances of space absolutely beggar belief so I cannot start to comprehend how aliens could possibly get here in silver discs some of which are claimed to be only a few feet in diameter.... if you believe that sort of thing !
They talk about bending space and time through wormholes etc etc but what on earth is that all about ???
I listen to what Prof Brian Cox says about it and I come out of the other end totally shredded, bemused and confused, more than when I started.

Quantum mechanics is the way to go. It proves that you can split a beam of light to be two places at once. This suggests that people could live in a different dimension as opposed to time travel. The film interstellar touches on this as well. If you bend space it makes the distance smaller. There's just that small matter of bending space to master and they've cracked it>

Isn't there a theory ( totally insubstantiated) that all human knowledge and development is genetically encoded in a sort of 'slow release' . How that knowledge release is triggered is as yet unexplained although someone somewhere postulated that it is random caused by changes in the gene pool.
I think it is more likely that someone has an idea e.g. Marconi and radio waves and once out there common like minded people develop that concept and development accelerates exponentially. All areas of science have become markedly specialised.
Early days of computing and IT people in the field knew pretty much the whole science behind ihe hardware and software. By the time I got involved it was impossible to get a handle on even fraction of Computing knowledge. Hardware, Software, Telecoms etc. Tell most people you work in IT and they ask why x doesn't work on their PC and expect you to know the answer. (I worked in Telecomms on Genesys and VoIP development quite specialised after having originally got MCSE and MCP accreditation (Microsoft.) Guys I worked with who had Degrees in Computing working on Hardware development and coding knew little of what I did and I certainly knew little of their field of expertise. Same applied to the field of medicine.

arr but, these visitors maybe able to travel at 1000's x the speed of light,so these distances may be **** all to them..a bit like us biking to cleethorpes lol

be even worse for them if they came here and witnessed wars and fighting after believing they'd finally dropped on their feet after escaping the self same thing wherever they'd come from lol

I dimly remember having cathode ray tubes and valves explained to me by a slimy green being in Poggy Rec.

There is a theory that since 1945 or thereabouts when the first nuclear bombs were exploded that alien visitation became more frequent (if you believe such a thing or can turn your mind to that possibility) and that subsequently they interfered with some nuclear sources supposedly to prevent us from blowing the hell out of each other.
There is a well documented event in the USA where an alien craft deactivated ten Minuteman missiles at Malmstrom air base. Makes you wonder doesn't it !
I suppose nuclear "emissions" or whatever signals they send out into space are honed in on by alien craft and we, the Earth, become an attraction for these others.
If you don't or can't believe in the possibility of aliens coming from elsewhere then the matter is irrelevant but if you can turn your mind to this possibility then it makes life on Earth a lot more interesting.
We were only hours away from nuclear war over the Cuban crisis in 1962, it would be interesting to know if that conflict might have been prevented by outside intervention.

On a similar note can you believe that a Nigerian prince can fix your internet if you give him access to your computer?

It's a fair assumption to make that they would have to be significantly more advanced than we are for them to have any chance of reaching us. Without technology way beyond us currently the distances are far too vast for it to possible.

Absolutely. As I said I think it's almost inconceivable that there isn't life elsewhere in the universe, I just don't believe they have reached us, or our solar system, yet.

Maybe there is bit they Defoe havnt been here as yet .
As I say your more likely to get your internet fixed by a phone call from a Nigerian Prince even though you weren’t aware it was broke in the first place .
    Now that’s progress
