Paddy Greene has quite a bit of local family, I've known his sister Ann for 40 years, she's a great woman, a good friend of my own mother and is rooted in Grimethorpe without losing her Irish heritage.

I saw him do a session at the old Hospital Club in Barnsley, 2001 I think, and he was superb. As others have posted, he's just a down to earth bloke with a gift of humour.

Two that I remember from his act:

"During the miners strike in 1984, my sister Ann had to leave Grimethorpe for a few weeks and go back to Belfast to get away from the troubles."

"The peace process isn't all its cracked up to be you know. It's destroyed Belfast's balaclava manufacturing industry"

Very surprised nobody mentioned Chapman Brown and Frenchie. They were extremely popular.
