I think Portsmouth was talking more about the agenda of those in the US where they really do want the police refunded rather than wanting mental health spending increasing.

well said. that’s the massive point that the racists (and they are racist) miss. They shout freedom to choose, the Wakefield players haven’t chosen they’ve obviously been told.

that’s a hook line the racists use to justify their opinion. I’m not calling you that by any means but anytime am I’ve seen that argument on socials it’s been used by a racist nutter.

    You can expand that.

    - voted for Brexit
    - lots of tears about people in dinghys
    - only kneel for the queen
    - All Lives Matter
    - say they don't support Tommy Robinson but "he says what we're all thinking"

    You'll get the same circle.

You've completely missed the point of 'defund the police'.

Police in the US have literally billions of dollars budget ($6 Billion in New York). They buy tanks, Lamborghini, grenade launchers as just some examples of things that police have and don't need. THAT is the point of defunding the police. That money is better used assisting with mental health, drug problems etc. Stuff the police do, because there's nobody else to do it, but could be achieved if the police budget was less.

Good point PR, I agree i have seen it myself, I'm certainly not racist, I am slightly right of centre but for me in life you are either a 5hit lovely person or good lovely person regardless of pigment in your skin.

.thing is their police need to be armed to the teeth because of the second ammendment where many of the population have armouries with AK47/ AR15/ Carbine/ Glochs and all other weaponry, they need to escalate above any threat thats how public order works, hence the heavy armour, not doubting you but I have never seen any PD with tanks, yes with APV's/ APC's but M1 Abraham tanks in the police, that won't and doesn't happen

The whole taking a knee thing reminds me very much of the poppy police we get every November.
If a racist kneels down, what use is that?
One of the F1 drivers who won’t kneel said he doesn’t support any violence, and that the violence perpetrated in the name of BLM should not be endorsed. Seems a reasonable argument to me.

Well I mentioned the poppy police before reading your comment, so I don’t think people should be criticised for not wearing a poppy and I don’t think people should have to kneel- compelling people through pressure or force to do either is the apotheosis of our presentation is everything culture we have slipped into. What matters is how we are seen to behave and whether we align with the cultural zeitgeist. Chasing down these requirements is a never ending quest, you will never be woke enough, you will never be patriotic enough, you will always fall short.

I didn’t wear one last year, I think I had one the year before, it just doesn’t mean anything to me to show external support for it. I think that because it has become politicised, like kneeling, it is best avoided, unless you want to make a political statement.

The F1 driver I was talking about is Finnish, I think, so his country probably doesn’t bother with them.

I wasn't making a point on to define political sides. Just stating a few observations. Its clear that the conservative policy has reduced funding to the Police here. They haven't hid it and people voted on that basis even after the evidence was clear. Even worse it included the local commissioner or whatever its called that included a high paid head who doesn't protect or offer any security to the public but is a PR role. I note that people in general haven't defunded as the tax we pay towards local Police and the commissioner is going up. But the overall police funding has declined. People voted for that.

the point was the hypocrisy of those frothing about McClean not wearing a poppy saying he must, then flipping and to state it’s not right to ‘be forced’ to take the knee.

contrarians can’t have it all ways, though they try bloody hard!
