we all seem to agree a striker is needed, consider this.

looking at Pinnock would it be a daft idea to train him up as a center forward/striker. Now before you shoot me down, for those of you who remember him, Dion Dublin was exactly that. He was comfortable playing at center forward or center half. So IMHO its not the craziest idea. Keep coaching him in both disciplines. we could bring in another striker but at what price.

Would rather we leave him at centre back where he’s been superb since coming in and sign a couple of quality strikers.

Keep him at centre back 100%. 2 headed goals doesn’t make you a centre forward. 3 man of the match performances in 3 starts at centre back indicates a potentially very good centre back.

its just a thought OC... we have a special young man in my view, and I think Hecky has seen that too. It would not be a bad idea to give him some coaching by a striker/forward coach as well as a defensive coach. Its a lot to take in , but I think the lad is capable of it. He seems to have good feet and control... he can certainly head a ball (and with accuracy) he is rapidly becoming a reyt gem of a find. As you know we got him from Forest Green , which shows that there are diamonds to found if you look hard enough. Oh and did you realise that Chris Morgan started life as a center forward, but then converted to a center half.

Not debating we’ve found a gem. Another seemingly good find from the “plan/spreadsheet”. I just think he’s been superb in defence. And bagged a couple of headers. Great signs. Let him keep getting (hopefully) better at CB in partnership with Lindsey. And let’s sign a Centre Forward who can link play, hold the ball, attack crosses, tap in, etc.

well we are kinda singing from the same song sheet in many ways. But for once its great to have dilemma such as this. Hecky must be thrilled that he has a lad who can do a job in two areas. Hope we can hold onto him

It’s not a dilemma for Hecky. It’s not a situation where a difficult choice has to be made. He’s a centre back who’s scored 2 headers and he’ll keep being a centre back.

Alfie Mawson is lethal with his head and on the deck but he’s still a centre back.

Good to have a player who can go forward in the last 10-15 minutes if we are chasing though. Agree with that Dragon.
We have the players to go 3 at the back & push him forward.

Is this the same player people were shaking their heads at and deriding at the start of the season because he came from non league football and we'd spent a lot of cash on him?
Well done Ethan. Keep up the good work lad.

I know two who were really hammering the club at the time for spending 500k on a non league player.... I'll mention no names though

That is literally THE most inerudite comment I have ever heard. It is something you hear in under 8's football when there is one child that has a growth spurt and is two feet taller than the other children, "stick him upfront!" He is a central defender, who has happened to be in the right place at the right time in four or five seconds worth of the last 180+ minutes worth of football. I hope this is a joke....

Has a couple of good games at centre back and we should retrain him into a Messi/Kane hybrid who's gunna bang in 60 a season. Absolutely the most BBS (or BS) thing I've ever heard.

Maybe we don't need to play him at CF, but some extra attacking training will make him a very useful asset at set pieces. A defender who knows where the net is could certainly add an extra dimension - how many did Mawson or Roberts score for us? If he gets 5-10 a season, then it will add a big chunk onto his resale price and help us to stay up.

In a team that is struggling to score, the more players than can hit the target the better.

as I said Dion Dublin was comfortable playing at center forward or center half. Chris Morgan started his career as a center forward and then reverted to a center back.So no its not a joke its an observation. We have a talented lad here who can multi task it would seem.
