I'm proud of you tonight. It's been a particularly bad two weeks for the club. But those lads gave their all for the shirt today. In previous matches, we've started well then the performance tended to fizzle out. Today we were at it from the first minute to the last. The only aspect of our game that I was disappointed in was our finishing. If we can start converting a higher percentage of the chances we're creating, then we'll start moving up the table. Halme, Chaplin & Collins had their best games in a Barnsley shirt in my opinion. But I think a special mention must be given to Diaby & Dougall, after their enforced absence. Dougall especially looked very comfortable at this level, enabling Mowatt and McGeehan to get forward more. Once again, well done lads.
A well deserved point against a top team and with better finishing we could have won. Agree, a massive well done to the team as they must feel shell shocked at recent events. Enjoyed the match today and so pleased that Diaby and Dougall are back, hope they stay fit.
Enjoyed it today Kev. I think the finishing will come. Whilst we looked a tighter unit the aspect that disappointed me most was giving the ball away too easily again with the biggest culprits being Mowatt, Brown and Cavare. Hopefully the efforts of Dougall and Diaby will bring a bit more calm when in possession.
Agree with that, a point was the very least we deserved today and as you say with a bit more composure in front of goal could have been three points, happy with that today, something to build on.
Dougall looks every part a natural born footballer, looks at ease whatever he's doing, and I've rarely seen a player win tackles as cleanly as he does. He was visibly leading the team out there, front and back, getting players in position and I think we kept our shape well because of him. He's a class act. My own stand out player today through was Halme, not faultless, but who is? After his nightmare start v Carlisle he's made steady progress and my MoM today. After all that has happened in the last 2 weeks, it was nice to just get down to Oakwell, talk b0!!0cks and nonsense with the lads and enjoy a good game. COYR
If only the two chances McGeehan had would have fallen to Woodrow. We might have been basking in the glow of a deserved win tonight.!
Agree with this thread entirely. The result yesterday was fantastic. The necessary tweaks were made and player application executed. I'm not clutching at straws when I say this team can be competitive in this league - we've had enough performances that show that. This squad and management team need to believe that. It does help to have fully fit squad to choose from. I'm not going to comment on the Stendal situation because the facts just haven't been publicly put out there. The key now is positive results. There is no reason why this squad can't go out and get some! Well done team on yesterday's performance.
On balance a draw was a fair result. Both sets of fans could rightly feel unlucky not to have taken all three points. Great team performance, but some surprisingly good individual performances from Collins, Halme, and Chaplin. Dougal too, considering his lengthy absence. Shooting/composure training for McGeehan next week. Despite us now occupying the bottom spot, I actually feel more optimistic than I did before the international break. We're still staring into the abyss, but perhaps we won't be going down without a fight.
I never thought we'd go down without a fight. That's one benefit of having younger less jaded players . Personally I think we can write Tues eve off but to me it's a must win game against Huddersfield now we have a fit squad again.
100% agree nudge, committed and competitive. Play like that every week and we’ll have every chance of staying at this level.
