Says in my paper today that Sheffield Wednesday are planning a massive fire sale in order to attempt to " balance" the books. They apparently face the prospect of losing the majority of their top earners re- Forestieri, Bannan, Fletcher and Rhodes plus Winnall has made it clear he wants away. They put players on expensive contracts in an attempt to win promotion but finished in 15 th place and as a consequence they must now trim their squad. If they don't they are in danger of breaching spending rules, so some of their better players will now have be sacrificed, leaving manager Jos Luhukay facing a very challenging task next season. Couldn't happen to a better Club.!
Wendy - owner over last few years has paid big bucks to make a push for the Premiership - it failed - they will have to row back at some point - their fooked. Blunts - have a owner that has run out of money - hence poor January window - and knows he hasn’t enough money to push the club forward and is looking for a buyer although he’s owed huge £££ millions by the club so who ever buys it has to pay him off - their fooked. Weeds - owner is only worth £300 million which isn’t enough to push for the Premiership so is looking for investors - their fooked.
It might be worth adding that all three clubs will be playing in the Championship next season whilst we will be in division one , just pointing out that we are hardly in a position to say anything about our local rivals at the moment .
Apart from the fact they've all attempted to buy success and it has hitherto backfired and because they are having to cut back, they may face the same fate as us re-relegation. Possibly a lesson for us in there. Prefer the fact that we intend to bring players through whilst still harbouring the aim of regaining our Championship status and then growing " organically", in the hope, that without spending " crazy" amounts we can achieve Premiership status. We will look forward with interest as to who is proved right.
I have no problem with our club & policies we currently operate , what I am pointing out is that its not smart to pick holes with other clubs when we have just been relegated & do not forget we have been in administration in our not too distant past , so the old saying about " people in glass houses " comes to mind .
We are always in a position to take the piss out of those deluded idiots. Wonder if any of them are still using that first season ticket after they were relegated from the prem... after all it was called a “premiership return ticket”
It’s easy wanting to sell players but who’s going to take them on their current salaries? None of them will want to take a cut on their current wage. Winnall’s just come off major surgery & Rhodes & Fletcher are both past their best. Who’s taking them on £18k, £40k & £30k respectively that they’re allegedly on? I wouldn’t. Deserve all they get
