I have no idea what his drinking habits were like - how could I?

I was only referring to the lack of commitment that SOME players show once they have secured a contract. I would hope that Lloyd Isgrove would put the same effort in that he did before, but there are no guarantees.

Wasn't having a pop mate, lumsdon was a bit of a pisshead while he was here and to be fair he wasn't alone as there was a few players at that time who were always in tarn on Saturday night after the game. As for isgrove it didn't really happen for him in those first few months of his loan but the effort was always there and you are correct that there's no guarantees, sithi.

Like Connor, I've heard that he holds the football will look after the money philosophy which as fans is all you want. If they use us a stepping stone whilst trying their conkers off every week then brilliant. We win and then they win

Certainly be worth a one of two year deal I would have thought

In Jason McCarthy's Radio Sheffield interview on signing for us, he goes on about how his good pal Isgrove had lots of good things to say about us as a club and the fans too.

Then Lloyd's Twitter profile pic is of him in a Reds shirt lifting the play-off trophy and his banner is of our line up for that game.

So there might be something in all this. Seems like he genuinely has a place for us is his heart, but then wages are another thing, as is the question of whether Hecky'll think we can do better. I'd welcome him back personally but hope he comes as the Millwall Wembley Izzy, not the Oxford Wembley version.

He's had that ever since the play off game and retweets pics from it every so often. He had 'player at Barnsley FC' in his bio for a good 6 months or so too. I've felt hopeful every transfer window as a result but even more so now he is a free agent.

Not for me. Hopefully Hecky will use the scarce resource on keeping proven players at this level or unearthing more unpolished gems whose careers are on the rise.

The Wednesday fans I know say that Isgrove was good at this level when on loan there.

I think, like Ryan Kent, Isgrove improved with game time; by the end of the 15/16 season, he was one of our better players (as was Kent by the end of last season). I do fear that his development might have gone backwards due to a lack of game time, but permitting that his wages are in line with our current structure, I don't see any harm in offering him the sort of deal that we had with Ryan Williams. 2 years with the option for a 3rd in our favour.

I agree Archey. Would prefer us to sign someone who has potential that we actually own. Yes it might take him a while to get back into the swing of it but he knows the area and staff already so that'll help.

If the papers can be believed looks as though Isgrove could be signing for Charlton.

I find it hugely strange that we never went back in for him and he spent a full season last season playing for saints u23's...

Izzy is in desperate need of first team football. Pushing 24 and with very little proper game time - what a waste. These youngsters are not going to have many memories to look back on while they count their prem league reserve dosh..

I think we did, but Southampton took him on their pre-season tour and he thought that he'd get the opportunity to play first team football. When it came to pass that he wasn't going to get game time, we'd renewed Hammill's contract and signed Ryan Kent on loan.
