7-1 at home to Huddersfield I think. Not sure about individual scorer although I'm sure I remember Aylott getting four in a home game once. Big Lil is your best bet for this.
4 players have scored 5 in a game way way back though. We have won 9-0 twice Loughborough and Accy but not sure if either were at home.
9-0 vs Loughborough 1899 (Davis scored 4). Away from home, we beat Accrington 9-0 in 1934 (Blight scored 4), which is the record Division 3 North away victory. Lol Chappell scored all four goals in a 7-4 home defeat against Bristol City, David Currie scored 4 goals in a 5-2 home victory over AFC Bournemouth in 1988. I don't know whether a player has scored more than four goals in a game for us. Turvey Tyke is your best bet for all the definitive information about BFC.
Big Lil's got it spot on. The most goals scored by Barnsley at Oakwell is nine v Loughborough in 1899. Funnily enough this game was the first time Barnsley wore their now famous Red shirts in a fixture. In the early days of football it was the rule that if clubs had a colour clash it was the home side that would change and it was believed that Loughborough would be wearing Blue and White so we ditched our own Blue and White stripes for their visit. In the end Loughborough wore Black and White so the change was unnecessary but due to the size of the victory the lucky Red shirts were retained for the next fixture. The four players to have scored five goals are Frank Eaton, Peter Cunningham, Beau Asquith and Cec McCormack. McCormack's nap hand was the most recent in 1950. John Peachey scored 5 in a friendly v Gudja in 1975 but thats another story.
Re: Big Lil's got it spot on. Beau Asquith used to own a shop on Doncaster road stairfoot the same premises the cardemon indian restaurant uses now. Can vision him now in his long brown shopkeepers coat
Re: Big Lil's got it spot on. Did you know him well, I once heard a rumour about him (nothing nasty) but I would not repeat it on here. If you know what I'm on about PM me
Re: Big Lil's got it spot on. 16-0 win. Weren't Gudja United something like Malta's Third Division Champions the previous season?
