.........by the club ??? I've seen the UN-retained List. What about the Retained List??? Or is it a ploy by the club to release the UN-retained List because there are so few players left on the Retained List? Especially if you subtract Robert - who must be sold IMO before he walks out of the door for nowt - and now would be the right time so we have the time to find a replacement. Maybe McDonald and Yiadom could also be added to the potentially sold list? I think there is a chance that they will both go as well - and now would be the right time. So if the club won't release it - could someone please post the Retained List of all players?
What the **** is a retained list? If someone is our player, then they're our player. You don't have to announce it to the world.
Retained List - look on the Official Website. Do you know what the Official Website is? If you find the 'Official' site you will (or could?) find the Retained List - which isn't a retained list - if you know what I mean. So yes the club does announce the Retained List to the world - but they haven't - they have announced an Un-retained List. A bit of political manoeuvrings by the club IMO. Why......because there are so few first team players that are left on the Retained List - and some of them (3?) are very likely to be sold this summer. I can only think of the following regular or near regular first team players that will definitely start the next season; Davis Jackson Mowatt Branch Bradshaw Hammill
Having read this and also the latest ramblings of a west yorkshireman I can take no more. Thats me done on here. Its been great as the bbs up to the beginning of 2017 but it's gone downhill since. I will.never forget the generosity of you guys when sponsoring me for my marathon last year and I shall be externally grateful for you for that but unfortunately the idiots have won and to be honest I have far more important things going on in my life right now. Ta-ra.
I've checked the list and EVERY out of contract player is listed, those who are not listed are under LEGAL CONTRACTS with the club and so cannot simply be released ergo they are retained and everybody with half a brain knows that
I've not seen any club list every player they have under contract at the end of a season. Purely those who are out of contract, and the status of those players, whether released, or offered new terms. So perhaps you can contact every other club and tell them to rename the lists they publish at seasons end. Looking at all of the players released, and the ones offered terms that decided to look at other options, we don't have any retained. But seeing as there was only Scowen and Watkins we'd all want to keep (or sell), with maybe White and Williams being given a last chance, isn't this what we all expected? And with a seasons experience, with more time to plan knowing what division we'll be in and the windfall of sizeable transfer fees, who's to say we won't bring in better than what we started last season with and the players we targetted? None of us know do we? So perhaps we try that rare thing called patience, and we see what happens.
Today Nudge. Players retained by Barnsley FC : Davies, Roberts, McDonald, Hammill, Moncur, Lee, Townsend, Adam Jackson, Kayden Jackson, Bradshaw, D'Almeida, Brown, Mowatt, Walton, Wardle, Smith, Hedges ( drawn from squad as published in programme v Burton Albion) plus Jared Bird who has been offered a contract and if accepted is retained. Players released: White, Williams, Nyatanga, Evans, Templeton, Carvill, Charles, Cowgill, Patrick, Proctor. Two players who have not accepted new contracts Scowen and Watkins. Loan players who have returned to their parent clubs: Janko, Rodriguez, Armstrong, Jones, James, Elder and Kent. To re-instate the numbers back to the levels shown in the Burton programme we need at least nine additions. Given our limited finances I'm tipping 3 permanents and 6 loans will probably make up that total. E.O.E.
Thanks for that. Forgot Moncur (strangely). Branch - I meant Hedges. Knew it was summert to do with trees or bushes But as I've said - that's a very very thin squad - especially if you add into the equation the speculation surrounding 3 of the contracted players - Roberts, McDonald, Yiadom. A couple of months ago Hecky in an interview said we will need at least TWELVE new players in the summer.
So your twaddle at the top in the OP was to eventually remind us all we need some players yet again! You should really get out more
Nope - wrong again. 'Yet again'? I haven't posted owt about the strength of the squad for months maybe a year or more. What yer talking about? The point was - to point out - that the Retained List wasn't a Retained List. The club didn't post a 'Retained List'. And by looking at a proper Retained List then people can clearly see how thin the first team squad now actually looks. Does see?
I am assuming that once PC recoups some of the cash he's owed from the transfer income we will have a limited budget. My split between loans/ permanent was based on the fact we had seven loans last term. Quite a number of players at Premier League Clubs who would fit our profile re- young and "cheapish " are out of contract, for example. Sanogo - Arsenal 24- centre forward, Bachman- Stoke 22- Keeper, Isgrove- Soton-24- Winger, Leur - Hull City- 22- Forward, Fryers- Palace- 24- Left back. In the Championship Ameobi- Newcastle-25- Forward, Lowe- Blackburn- 25- Midfield , Saville- Wolves- 23 - Midfield, Davies- Birmingham- 23- Midfield and Sordell- Burton-26 - Centre Forward take the eye. League 1 and 2 are awash with available players that's before we start looking at the Northern League, Scotland and Ireland. Don't know obviously if fees would be involved and whether we could afford their wages. That's the dilemma that our management has to deal with. Being fair they've not done a bad job in the past. Upping sticks and moving to a strange town must be a daunting especially when you are in your early 20's. Accommodation, new coaches, new routines, fan base / media/ expectations all provide unique challenges. We're going to be or'eyt you mark my words. Let's keep calm and wait with anticipation to see who's coming in. Unlike some clubs we've got caring owners, we're not in mountains of debt, we are in mid table in one of the hardest leagues in professional football and we've got one of the finest young managers in the modern game. What's not to feel good about.? Let's lighten up and get behind 'em. COYR's.
@Young Nudger all the info you need is here, plain to see http://barnsleyfc.org.uk/pages/transfercentre1718/
