Sorry, when he and the club ‘separated’, we were in the bottom three.

However we weren’t bottom. We were only two points below fourth bottom. Five points below the relative giddy heights of 18th.

Murray has had five games. Won none. We are now five points adrift of fourth bottom, nine points from 18th, and yesterday put in the worst performance I’ve seen in a long while. (I wasn’t at Preston or the Carlisle cup game but I can’t imagine those to have been much worse). Losing comfortably to the only team who were below us, gifting them a two nil lead, then another two after getting a sniff, and giving them a huge confidence boost leading into the international break.

We were tactically inept, at most points but for eg we got a foothold and the momentum in the game at 1-2 - and threw it away by being gung ho.

He has then refused to acknowledge any failing on his part and called out players for making errors.

Some still want Murray to get the job. Why? He isn’t a leader, he hasn’t turned results around, he comes across as mild and a yes man.

Yes players are making poor errors. Yes the squad is too young. Any manager would struggle - but there is a better tune to be gotten out of these boys and it is plain that he is not the right man. Now or ever.

I thought maybe give him the job until January, but after hearing his comments about believing in the plan etc, I want him to **** off asap.

I want people at the club that will question their employers and try to make them undertstand how out of touch they are. Yes men feeding their egos isn't the answer.

Just watching the Cardiff v Bristol game and they mentioned a 31 year old that Johnson picked up as a free agent in the summer. Rowe? Playing a part in a top half side, but wouldn't be on our radar because of 'the plan'

Look at stoke’s centre forward yesterday.

Signed on a free - aged 31 and likely on good wages so we wouldn’t consider it.

Instead we spaff seven figure transfer fees on young boys.

Agreed. And when he used the inane, archaic turn of phrase and told the players they need to ‘man up’ after Huddersfield, two words that haven’t been of use to anyone this side of the 21st century, you kind of got the feeling then that this guy doesn’t have the people skills, passion or likability that Stendel had to get the best from a group of players. This is a small point, but to use that expression nowadays isn’t going to get a young group of men in need of a confidence boost anywhere fast, other than rooted to the foot of the table. Sure the players need to take some responsibility, but so does the gaffer. And if like Stendel you are an honest guy and say it how you see it, then blame the board that assembled a group of players that are out of their depth, not the players themselves. What a mess

    Stoke were ***** .
They were below us before yesterday and imo won’t be getting out the bottom three anytime soon with that performance .
Please don’t look to Stoke for inspiration.

Who on this board has said they want Murray to get the job? In the main I’ve noted that most don’t care who is in the dugout.

I reached that stage yesterday. I would have thought previously that perhaps Nathan Jones would be a good option but all signs point to another overseas appointment. But watching yesterday I saw little in the way of an idea and a real lack of footballing know how on the pitch. Our players made - other than the 15 minutes after half time - the sport of football look like something they’d only been made aware of at 2:50PM.

I thought Gregory played well yesterday. Ball stuck with him and his movement was good.

Wouldn't swap him for Woodrow, but think he would be a good addition to our current squad.

As for Stoke, they have some good players and will probably improve under the new bloke.

The only way we have a chance of getting out of this mess is to appoint someone like Tony Pulis - someone who will organise the players and has lots of experience at this level. Absolutely no way he or someone of his calibre would come with the current policies though

Well it’s all opinions but imo ball stuck with him because under not much pressure .
I didn’t think they were anywhere near a good side yesterday even though they could and should have had more .
The highlights and games I’ve seen featuring stoke tells me they are on the same fate as Sunderland .
Course I could be wrong and the new manager might turn things round but considering the gifts of goals they had they didn’t inspire me to look at their recruitment or game plan .
They were shocking at the back as we were even more shocking and that’s where I’d want my experience tbh.

Their manager has just come in at the right time. By January he'll know exactly what he needs and will have money to spend.

Well if he’s money to spend that may well be the case but I was quoting troff on their current squad .
If he doesn’t get money that squad will be relegated imo.

Has anyone got a link to Murray's comments after the game yesterday?

I agree. We made them look much better than they are. At 2-1 if we'd got the penalty decision, I think Stoke would have crumbled.

I think everyone knew that Murray was not the answer however considering our perilous position the question now is why is it taking so long to replace Daniel. If the answer is what I think it is then the blame is firmly with one set of people.

I wasn’t looking to stoke for inspiration.

I used them - as our most recent opponents - as an example of an alternative type of signing. One where the investment is in wages, not fee, and where there isn’t likely to be any resale value but offset by the fact it is a player who will add quality and experience to the squad. The cost of Gregory over two seasons will be little more than the cost of Chaplin or Wilks given they had a fee which they did not.

And as for Stoke being *****, we were worse. Much worse. I thought Gregory had a very good game too.
