Its a pity syp didn't put the same amount of effort into uncovering Rotherham grooming gangs and being more forthcoming about Hillsboro.
Wonder why there is no comment from us. We do clearly have a small minority of "fans" who we would be well rid of and they are costing us a fortune in policing costs and gate restrictions
It is possible all 44 could have been banned between 3 to ten years ago according to that. Seasonal figures could show a different picture altogether.
I was going to ask how much of a f***ing idiot do you have to be to get yourself a banning order...and I do reckon in the vast majority of cases it's a complete idiot. However, I remember standing on the terraces at Rotherham back in the eighties. Rotherham scored, thousands of Barnsley fans collectively said "oh, f**k" or something similar and two of South Yorkshires finest immediately plucked my mate from next to me and chucked him out of the ground for swearing. I've never broken the law but in every single encounter ive had with SYP or, indeed any other force, they have proved themselves to be a disgrace. No better than thugs with a uniform in most cases.
As a proportion of our average gate, I think that is disgraceful. What is the problem with Barnsley supporters. I stopped going to away matches because of the unruly element, and I am sure others have also stopped going.
If you combined both Wednesday and uniteds total banning orders were only 5 behind. And combine their attendances and it's in excess of 40k.
I wouldn't let it put me off travelling but I agree with what you say. I saw some right arseholes at games last season. The closer the venue, the more we took and some of them old enough to know better. I know loads of reds fans that like a drink before the game. Take the lads from the courthouse for example. They go all over, always have a good wet and never cause any bother. The ones that seem to overdo it on the cooking sherry and make a nuisance of themselves with our own fans always seem to be unknown to me, not the regular faces. Some people have little or no respect for those that don't have a skinfull, don't want to stand up all the game and don't want to worry whether or not the next away game is going to be a hassle free experience.
Well. When the wonderful boys in blue likely treble the force for us against a non league team they have more resource to arrest. Generalising BTW
