Oliver's ale house would have been mine too, around 84 when I was sixteen. Went to primary school and Kirk balk with Andy Roberts, great musician.

No 7 darn wombwell when I was about 15 I think, then I remember going in Bodega's regularly at 16 when I started college & if we couldn't get served at the bar they had a vending machine where you could get a bottle of lager for a quid!

Never thought about it but it was a tiny off- licence that served from a stable door in Salzburg, Austria when I was 13 on a school trip!

    Also gone.

Bought some vodka in Germany on a trip when I was 13 but I didn't drink it. Teachers heard we had bought booze, searched us and took it.

Mine was Church House in Wath when I was about 16.

Three Travellers, Shambles Street, 1974; I was 17, and looked about 14 but they still served me a pint. It was Barnsley Bitter, proper stuff before the brewery closed.

Albion never liked the tap room lot in the George.. He used to call it the muppet side of the bar (and to be fair it had a few 'characters' then). Like Basil Fawlty and Lord Melbury, Albion was much happier serving Roy Mason his couple of pints of Magnet in the best room.

I think my first illicit drinking used to be in a club called the KGH (Knights of the Golden Horn) which was just off Peel Square in town. It being a private club it could open after 3 in the afternoon when other pubs were closed. Used to call in for a half on the way home from School when we had the money. Seemed an odd place even then-don't remember much more about it tho..
