Yep. Convinced more than ever it's another symptom of the massive wages... Justification of those salaries needs qualifications and pseudoscience
Re: Real Football I was almost certainly there, don't remember it, used to go on the bus with my sister and we used to get in as early as we could to try and get sat on the St John's dugout in the corner. My dad used to get to the game just before kick off and he'd give us a lift back, never allowed to see the end of the game so he could miss the traffic. It's one of the reasons I always stay and applaud at the end now, I was never allowed to as a kid.
No commentary on this one unfortunately so can anyone tell me the scorer for us? Andy Saville maybe? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImIACIGFRv4
I was there & remember it well. Frightening thing is I remember that game better than most in the past couple of years! Not sure if that's a reflection on my age & memory or the poor quality of fare served up these days..!?
They sell shirts like that in the club shop, have for a few years. EDIT: Forgot the shop has gone back to the club so may not sell them anymore.
I'll ask next time i go down, think they look really smart. If they do them again, i'll be buying one for sure.
This is the one (XL Boys though): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/252123950681?adgroupid=13585920426&hlpht=true&hlpv=2&rlsatarget=kwd-75951454626&adtype=pla&ff3=1&lpid=122&poi=1006496&ul_noapp=true&limghlpsr=true&ff19=0&device=c&chn=ps&campaignid=207297426&crdt=0&ff12=67&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff14=122&viphx=1&ops=true&ff13=80 Made by Avec so probably no longer for sale.
I was there. Good game from one of our best teams ever in my recollection. However, did you see all those men in the box? Poor coaching, that; you'd never see it today, now that we have all these highly qualified coaches who really know how to.......er.....
Was at all those early home games shown. Parker was some player, could control in an instant. Seen some good games vs Wolves. Think it was 5-0 at there place, pretty sure Rimmer played in that game, definitely remember their fans not being too happy afterwards. Then there was the game at Oakwell Currie v Bull think it was 2-2 with both scoring. Seem to remember the press raving about both players. Absolutely loved watching David Currie, worth paying to watch any game.
Sat at back of ponty end on that brick pillar. that's almost sure were ad av bin. Fecking memories cheers.
I was there. Uniquely, I remember there were 3 sets of fans at the game. In addition to the 2 teams, about 50 Wednesday fans had to be segregated in the corner of the Brewery Stand. The game between Leeds & Wendy was called off (this was originally scheduled for tv coverage and it was switched to us due to the postponement at Bellend Rd). The Wednesday lot turned up on the way back from Leeds and piled in the away end, only for the coppers to segregate and shove them in "no mans land". Bizarre day all round.
Me and me dad standing near the dugouts. Happy days. I remember the games from those days very well but nowt from last season
Ah, I wondered who those were in that corner. Thanks for that explanation. I wonder if they cheered our goals? Probably not. Only time I remember "third club" fans at Oakwell was way back when we played Man Utd in the cup in the Best, Law and Charlton days. We had very few season ticket holders in those days so it was a case of "come to the Wrexham home game and buy a ticket for Man Utd". Over 17,000 turned up which was well above our normal gate and, right in the middle of the Ponty End, were loads of Man Utd supporters. Anyone else remember that?
I'm sure we were. My memory is crap though, I don't remember individual games from so far back, and then if I do I wonder if it's just footage I've seen later that I remember.
Well we didn't miss many home games back then so it seems very likely we were there. The reason I remember it is because I had a project at school, as part of my O'levels, where I had to review something that mattered from the newspapers over the weekend and I picked the Barnsley v Wolves game. I'm pretty sure that was the game.
Remember playing against Phil Chambers at school, every time he get the ball our defence ran for cover, that guy had a terrific boot on him even at that age.
