Missus is away this week and so I was lazy and bought some ridiculously overpriced Taste the difference peas "sweet and juicy hand shelled peas" washed and ready to cook NOT TO BE EATEN RAW Any idea why you cant eat them uncooked cos I am baffled
Me as well been doing it for over 40 years and I am still here Though these are foreign peas - wonder if there is some chance they were washed in dodgy water or summat
RE: me too i can remember farmer picking us up on a weekend and taking us to the pea fields on his trailer. the used to be abart 15 of us pickin in is fields all day for abart a fiver day each. tha could eat as much as tha wanted to and were all still livin, but as wind is still as bad!!!
RE: me too must have been a good farmer, trailer to the fields and fiver a day fifty bob mine payed and he said cant tha walk it lad
Probably for the same reason That water gets a "best before" date as soon as it goes into a bottle, completely ignoring the fact that it's been percolating through rocks for the last several thousand years!
My guess is ... modern farming methods and the possibleuse of pesticides in so many modern crops.
If they were organic, like they used to be when we all used to eat 'em straight out of the fields, then perhaps it would be different.

As Red Rag says....plus just a disclaimer, just in case you became ill after. Probably ok.....modern pesticides are used in producing salad veg that you eat raw.
