It’s decided by club officials of both clubs, with agreement of the match officials. I’ve no idea why it was white at the weekend because it’s a conversation I have not got involved in, but would probably guess at us running low on red shirts, considering the players have been handing them to fans at full time at a rate I’ve never seen before. As for the green kit, I can be blamed for thats introduction. I loved the 94/95 version and ever since I joined the club I kept saying we should do a modern version of it. I finally got my wish and I believe it’s the best selling away kit. But sadly, it is an issue when you’re playing against teams in red, regards colour blindness and when your other options are red and white. Think we are using green tomorrow. File under ‘Whitey’s fault’ I guess, it’s a big old pile.
Wasn't meant as a dig btw. I think the problem with colour blindness only really started to be highlighted this season, with numerous kits. Agree with you on the 94/95 kit. Bought this season's green shirt myself.
I’m in the minority then thinking that shade of green is dull and ugly looking, especially with bits of red in it. Given our difficulties this season in stringing two passes together in most games the kit could be a contributory factor. They just can’t see each other!
Would it have made a difference? I think not. This is just one of those seasons that I can’t wait to see the back of. I wasn’t this disillusioned during the dark days of 1966 and then in the early seventies when the good times disappeared again, for a while. I know things will get better (who knows when) but I can’t shake off this feeling of “can’t be bothered to travel to matches “. I’ve travelled much further than 46 miles for home games but these are grim times.
You'll get no argument from me on that, I want us to play in red whenever possible. But I think we're both out of touch and a couple of old dinosaurs. Things evolve, often not for the better, and the older you get the more you believe everything is worse than it used to be. That's not actually the case, but on this occasion I'm with you, I think it's self defeating, but we lost this battle a decade or more ago.
Anyone remember Palace away in the "Flicker" season when the ref objected to our blue away kit so we had to raid the Palace Club Shop and wear THEIR yellow away kit!
Actually, they should bodypaint the kits on. That way there would be no shirt pulling. I know; I'm a genius.
