Why do we want to run ourselves down like this? I understand being self critical and critical of our leaders for the greater good, but I refuse to adopt the narrative of mocking ourselves and our country at every turn.

Well the creation of the NHS is something truly for our nation to be called great. Shamefully there are those who would gladly see it’s privatisation

There’s a lot to be proud of but the obsession with nostalgia and rewriting of history when it suits is not one of them.

I think its great that a Brit invented the WWW and had the great vision to make it universal rather than try and grab money for it just like Fleming and penicillin

Wow, I didn't expect anyone in here to actually know something like this! :D
It'll be weird without Martin Carr, the man's a genius so I sure hope that they'll convince him to join somehow, but he's quite a character and I doubt that he'll change his mind.

Yes I think that's about right. Myths are created to form a national story that hides much of what happened.

I doubt he’ll be involved but still, I saw sice twice last year and enjoyed it, should be really good with the majority of the band back

Well the vast majority of them stay elsewhere, so not sure what your point is.

Add to that the millions of Brits who choose not to live here, and your point seems a little moot.
