Surely Barnsley could have waited to sell any players on in the Summer.
Then again, this is Barnsley F.c. we're talking about.

I hope they spend the money from the sale of Potts on some other decent Player, can't see this happening though as usual.

If they were to recruit, my shout would definitely be for Jack Payne at Bradford City.

He would be well worth the £500.000 being offered by Millwall, let's getting him signed up now.

Why can't you see the club reinvesting.Have you Forgot Bradshaw leaving only to be replaced by a younger better version In Woodrow.I would imagine every single football club to buy and sell in the January. Its called the transfer window.

It was an awful lot of money for a limited player.

Potts absolutely drove the players forward.
He will be a significant loss there is no doubt about that.
It may cost us promotion it’s as serious as that.

AGAIN - Gally talking for the CEO saying it could be a release clause.
    Is it ???
    Is it CEO ???

I'm just glad we sold him today and not on the last day.

There would have been pitchforks and burning torches.

Yeah. I get he was limited. Be he was effective. He drove us forward very well.

I can't see moncur driving us anywhere but sideways for example

Maybe mcgeehan might naturally shine more now though. Dunno

Suppose this time we have hope that we can spend a bit more rather than keep pocketing and spending pennies.

It shall be an interesting few weeks

I agree, he did. But he also failed to supply Moore with the kind of crosses he'd love If we'd been playing Potts in a central three and he'd been driving us forward week in week out then I could understand the disillusionment currently being displayed. But Stendel didn't trust him to take up that position. He tried him there in cup games and didn't like what he saw There were as many games where Potts struggled to make any impression at all as there were games where he drove through the opposition defence like a tank. I think we can get a couple of players in who offer more consistency and create more chances for the best strike partnership in the division than Potts did for significantly less money than we sold him. They maybe won't look as impressive as Potts did in full flow, he's almost unstoppable when he gets going, but that didn't happen enough and I think if we sign the right players we'll be a better team scoring more goals.

If we don't sign anyone then yes it's **** but I don't think that will be the case. Last time we sold someone his replacement was cheaper and much better I think we're going to see that again.

    Bloody well hope so mate.

Don't get me wrong I'm not overly a flag waving fan of Potts and we've been guilty of having too much choice. At times I believe hampered progress with too many changes.

I wouldnt be upset to clean a few up and replace with one or 2 quality. But that's where we don't have mich to compare against. Woodrow being an exception.

Should we do that again I'd be delighted

Is everyone really swallowing the line that Woodrow (superior though he is) was a replacement for Bradshaw? Surely we needed at least one other oven-ready striker when we just had Bradshaw and Moore (hence the pursuit of Chaplin before Tom was even a twinkle in Miwaww's eye) and surely we still need one now that we have only Woodrow and Moore? Otherwise we are stuck having to play one up front with no Plan B when Kieffer or Cauley are injured, or even worse be stuck with the abject performance that we provided at Charlton when neither were able to start.

If we are all prepared to accept this then I think the club have got away with another one by codding the fans into believing that Woodrow for Bradshaw equals a full complement of strikers.

I can accept we replaced Bradshaw with Woodrow.

I can also accept we still needed another striker at that time.

But Victor and Brown have shown promise at times so maybe other areas are a priority.

I agree that Victor and Brown have shown promise at times, Brown principally out wide and Victor as a late sub. Neither are ready to make regular starts up front in a side reputedly chasing promotion imho and, from the way he's used them, Daniel Stendel's. We needed another striker when Bradshaw was here and we still do. Perhaps even more so now we have got rid of our third most likely scorer.
