Having supported Barnsley for 24 years now, this isn't at all surprising. Winnall didn't want to sign a deal and obviously didn't want to stay until the end of the season. We either keep someone who doesn't want to be here whilst paying them handsomly or we cut our losses and get rid, albeit for what is tantamount to peanuts. That's the downside of the model we work with and the size of our club. We pick up players cheap and sell them for a profit or we keep them, allow them to do the business for us (which Winnall has arguably done) and then allow them to move on and progress their career. I say we take this on the chin, wish Sam all the best and thank him for his efforts over the past two years and especially the past 12 months.
And not that I care but I think he has made a misake going there - he might get more cash but I bet he doesnt get many starts. Going there is a bit hard to take though
I'll wish him well at the club he joins after Wednesday. Providing it's not Leeds or Sheff utd or Huddersfield.
I agree. I suspect we've already signed Winnall's replacement in Bradshaw, and that we'll put up more of a fight over Hourihane.
