Ok,I'm gunna take a step back here. Cos reading some of charlton fans comments, they certainly side with us and the stance weve taken Apologies to them. Hope they get a reprieve too
Yep, see my comment I've just posted.. I didnt think before saying it. I'm only on can number 2 and should have thought better
Imagine if it was us in admin right now and Dane Murphy writes to the EFL "dear EFL, please do not deduct Barnsley FC any points it isn't Barnsley FC who made the decision to put Barnsley FC into administration, it was the decision of Mr Chien Lee and Paul Conway acting in their capacity as owners of Barnsley FC. Why can you not see that a decision taken by the owners of Barnsley FC using their legal powers as owners aren't the actions of Barnsley fc? Yours stupidly Dane
Lol, I can imagine. I remember well the season we were on our way to the prem, and their fans sang at our ground to agree we were going up. I went to the first game of the season at their ground. We only won 2-1 but its hands down the best I've ever watched us play. That includes the demolishing of huddersfield. Coming out the ground, was met with so much praise for our performance that day. Always had respect for them after that season. I have no issue and dont think I ever have with them. That must be some kind of record for me lol
As I understand it 12 points is mandatory for Admin.....there can though be extra points deducted for not meeting the 25p in the pound rate for creditors.
Isn't the 12 pt penalty and admin rule in place to protect from exactly the situation Wigan are in. To avoid seeking an advantage from going into admin. So if ANY points are reinstated that keep them up then admin has given them an advantage in securing players to compete with no ownership responsibility to pay for it. they (fans) are it seems arguing that the EFL ratified the fit and proper test. Imagine the repercussions from clubs if its found the EFL are accountable for how a club is run. Wont happen in my mind.
In the late 80s/early 90s I was in my Student Union when a guy I barely knew came up to me with a beer and whisky chaser. Here you are mate he said. That day Barnsley had stuck 5 past Wolves. He was a Baggie.
Surely any money the administrators are aware of should be put in place to pay off creditors first and not into costly legal action which is really baseless as I see it - it’s not a new punishment to deduct an automatic 12 points for going into admin and again the club owners must have taken advice and weighed up the pros and cons of doing so before they did it - or is that just me ?
I find it amusing that the wigan faithful (some of them) are trying to separate their board /owners from the club. The EFL if they were to side with wigan (which they wont) are in danger of sending out the message that cheating is good and adhering to their own rules/ wishy washy guidelines.. bad.
Yet another example that when it comes to finances (just like our banks) hardly anyone can be trusted to self regulate their monies.
Alex Scott just said something along the lines of “the rules are rules, they’ve gone into admin so the deduction should stay.” on football focus just now. Tim Cahill called them a great club but agreed with her. Just confirm the deduction already and them in league 1 so we can prepare properly for the championship next season, which isn’t too long away at all.
They also lost £7.7 million in 2017/18 as well. It isn't true that they don't owe money to any non-football creditors either. That figure is £5million, over half of which is to HM Revenue and Customs. https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/wires...tify-best-bidder-creditors-football-club.html https://www.wigantoday.net/sport/football/wigan-athletic-report-annual-loss-ps92million-2441736
Are HMRC a main creditor? Cant see them being happy about money spent on a court case. There's still a possibility they wont get a buyer after all
