Thank you and thanks for your donation, will put it on my website tonight. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ianwildyorkshireway
Update: Currently in Welton on the Yorkshire Wolds Way, 89 miles gone, 437 to go. Hard work in the sun, but the beer tastes good afterwards! Had lots of BBS donations and the total is now well over £300 with over 4 weeks to go. Thanks all, respect to the lads and lasses in Plymouth on Monday! https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ianwildyorkshireway https://www.wildyorkshireway.co.uk
Hows it going Stahlrost, been watching your progress daily. Hope alls well and weekend results inspired you
Everything fine, thank you and of course the game on Saturday made my mood even better! Heading for Sherburn today, then Filey tomorrow, then most of the Cleveland Way to come. I'm not sure if you've seen my links, but you can see a route map, with a live (well, almost) updating red blob at my current position, here https://www.wildyorkshireway.co.uk/mapdisplay.php You can also see my intended route here, although the stopping points are a bit flexible https://www.wildyorkshireway.co.uk/route.php?Direction=Anticlockwise
Update: Currently at the Royal Oak, Great Ayton, 230 miles done, 296 to go. What an evening last night was, spent it going ballistic in a pub in Robin Hood's Bay. Congratulations to all at Barnsley FC, what a great season!!! Just had another look at your route. I know it's a way off yet, but you need to have a rethink about Skipton. It's a splendid place, and really isn't somewhere to walk past without stopping by. Lots of nice tea rooms etc.
I've already made a note to divert the route through Brough, following your suggestion. However, I think the concept of "Wild Yorkshire" should be taken into account. Skipton Tea Shops don't really fit that description. But then again neither does the Bay Horse in Bentley, I suppose...
I'm all for sticking to the principles of the plan, but then there's the expression "never look a gift horse in the mouth". Skipton is that gift horse. I'd even go as far as saying allow an extra day/ delay your departure from Skipton.
If I visited every Tea Shop in Skipton, I'd probably walk 20 miles in a day, burst my bladder and I'd still be in Skipton after all that effort. Just arriving at Clay Bank Top in the Cleveland Hills, magnificent far-reaching views!
I'm currently in the Queen Catherine Hotel in Osmotherley, walking to the Forresters Arms in Kilburn today, then coming back here for the night. It depends on the time whether I follow the game in Kilburn or here. By the way, the fact that most of the days on my walk start and end at pubs is purely coincidental...
