Normally I would agree Conan, especially if we were struggling/unconvincing like this all the time at home. But we're not normally like that are we, and you've got to take this as WIN haven't you, especially as it comes after two very disappointing away defeats this week. Simple as that really!.
To be fair Conan, I like to be entertained more than I was today (and definitely more than I was on Tuesday), but what's gone before would suggest to me that it's unlikely we will endure that every game. Nor would I realistically expect stellar football each week either. I do think there'll be a lot of spoiling but we are in very early days of a regime under a head coach, he's learning about his players, including their limitations, our opponents and I don't think inconsistency is surprising. I'd think we will have games where we are scrappy but if we can show resolve and get a point or three then it's a good habit to develop. Hopefully today's result settles things a little after two poor results, instills a bit of confidence again and we start picking up both points and form. I really hope Stendel is given time by everyone concerned, in the stands and within the club. Promotion might not be achieved this season, I hope it is of course, but I want to see our head coach try and develop a side over the longer term and not just be judged on this season.
Btw Meta (and anybody else on here who went to Strawberry Town during the week lol), did they do a dirty Leeds/SheffUre style hatchet job on Kenny Dougall ?. Ive heard he wasn't simply injured, he was more or less 'taken out!'.
He was targeted from the kick off, nothing wrong with that in principle I guess, but it was a shocking tackle that finished him off. I've not seen any replays, but the lads I know who watched it on iFollow all thought it was a straight red.
Thats it Meta, a defeat is one thing of course isn't it and I normally accept that. It angers me though when teams openly target and kick a quality player out of the game, and in this case, injure him for at least 3 months!. Ive lost all respect I might have had for them because of this, and if they go down, then tuff ti*tty eh!.
******* love this thread. Conan's biggest critic getting abuse for being critical. Or, as fair minded people would say, telling it like it is. For months Conan has highlighted how you're not allowed to have an opinion if it doesn't correlate with the idea that everything is ******* great. And you've slagged him off at every turn for pointing this out. And yet here we are, you've given an alternate opinion and you're getting slated. There's something rotten in the state of Denmark, but at least one more person can see it now.
Opinions, opinions. Thought Bahre had a decent first quarter of an hour like the rest of the team but thereafter was pretty shocking with some terrible corners thrown in. He did keep trying to his credit but I was hoping he'd be subbed at half time.
Bahre didn’t have a huge impact on the game yesterday but you can see that in terms of how he thinks and reacts he’s a step in front of some of his teammates. The trouble is he can’t always drag them to his level. His end product wasn’t great today but he looks to be the best technical footballer in the squad, by some margin. If he had any pace he’d be a top flight player. He doesn’t, so he’s not. Didn’t play particularly well yesterday but in some fleeting moments you saw he’s streets ahead of league one on the ball. I just wish both he and Alex Mowatt could learn to not hit the first man defending the front post from a corner.
I sort of agree. He's technically good but he's missing some bite and I can't see a goal threat in him. His corners were shocking. That sort of flies in the face of technical ability assessments but he's still settling in so he may turn into a big asset.
He's not getting slated. People are just disagreeing with his opinion. No one said it was a great performance or game as far as I can see.
Come on mate, that's hardly worth a mention considering some of the stuff that's said on here to people at times. Lots of people have expressed a different opinion and qualified it with their own view of the game. It's not like anyone thought we played well, just that the win was the most important outcome on the day. We didn't reach the heights of some our earlier performances. Hardly makes us woeful. Average, maybe? Had he said that, we would have agreed.
I think woeful was too strong too, but it's just description, and I have no problem with the vast majority who are simply disagreeing and/or putting their own opinion, but I really object to those who just try to stop anything that's remotely critical. Not give an alternative opinion, but slate the poster for making one themselves. It happens all the time and that's what Conan has been objecting to.
Works both ways mate. Some people can start a positive thread and have others jumping on it with a different viewpoint. Nowts black and white on here.
