    Exactly. If their billionaire owner wants to spend his money in his way that should be his choice. The issue should only be if they don't write it off themselves and instead add it to club debt.

    If this is true someone from the football league should be straight on the phone to ask what the hell is going on.

    Parachute payments are to allow clubs to honour existing contracts and avoid financial ruin, not to be given another crack at promotion for free where often the cycle just continues.

    The rules need to change, extend parachute payments so that they can't be used to supplement further transfers or the contracts of new players.

    Instead of paying the money to clubs whoever gives the money (Prem?) should takeover the contracts of players upto x amount a year. That way it's used for its intended purpose.

    Also any team that breaches FFP should have a points deduction on a sliding scale in relation to size of breach, that way it keeps the playing field more level when a team has more expensive/higher earning players but has to start the season on - points.
