For the record, it isn't just here. Generally (sure there are exceptions), governments from the right side of the political spectrum have acted worse than those on the left. This is partially down to their political views on the small state, partly due to their insistence on the economy above people, and less government interventionalism and partially down to the most famous of their leaders being Grade A planks - not just Boris or Trump, but the leader of Brazil who is still denying the existence of a virus that has now killed over 20000 in that country.

What I meant was an outspoken leaver like Johnson who was adamant he was going to make the country great and stop people coming into the country has blown his big chance to practice what he preached. I'm dumbfounded by it all to be honest. I thought he'd have jumped on the chance to stop people entering the country and stamping his authority. Instead he's tried to look progressive and ended up with egg on his face.

I don't get this... Are the Telegraph saying they should be mixing a nasal swab and a throat swab together so they only have to analyse the one test? Surely the two separate tests have to be analysed separately and should be counted as two tests... because that's what they are, just on the same person? It's been abundantly clear that some people have been tested more than once because of the difference between the number of tests and the number of people tested.

There is only 1 swab per test which is used for both throat and nasal samples.

I have been tested for covid-19. I had a throat swab followed by a nasal swab, entire procedure took less than 30 seconds.
I got a result by email 2 days later-negative-they only test the one swab stick

No way on this earth can they be construed as two separate tests, the same swab stick is used on both surfaces.
(Just had to ensure the throat one was done first!)

This is why the government said 100k "people" per day tested instead of "tests" or "capacity"....a figure they have never come close to hitting in the 22 days since they said they had hit their "ambitious" target.

Today was 140k tests on 80k people, but hey ho, they're doing great

    It's one test.

They've been counting it as two. To fudge the figures.

I can't believe some folk are still trying to defend this government. But then, I can't believe folk voted for the horrible ***** in the first place.

    I also can't believe it's not butter.

You mean you believed the lies of a proven liar? He lied to you about COVID (repeatedly). He lied to you about Brexit (also repeatedly) - remember the "oven ready" deal, that they are trying not to implement because it puts NI in a different customs regime to the UK and the talks for a trade deal are breaking down leaving us likely to leave with No Deal that we were promised wouldn't happen?

I'd already voted him in before Covid-19? There wasn't a crystal ball going spare at Wingfield School polling station.

It's always troubled me why we had so many more tests than people tested. I could understand a few people getting tested twice in a day, but the number of tests always eclipsed the number of people tested by thousands. Makes sense now.
